Pickle snocone 😩

Recommended Posts

So just want to see if anyone had a problem with this but I LOVE pickles! They were my favorite snack before surgery and my NUT said I can’t have a actual pickle yet but a dill pickle snow cone is fine. Problem is it gave me some serious bathroom issues like Went down fine but 20 minutes later I was having “never trust a fart” issues. What the actual heck caused that because I seriously didn’t think that would be a issue and neither did my NUT. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m almost 4 weeks post op and on my second stage of soft foods (fish, deli meat, stuff like that). Sorry for the TMI but I’m seriously confused on what the deal was.

No. I made sure of that when I ordered. They literally take a jar of Pickle Juice and dump it on there.

Maybe you're just not ready for that much acidity yet?

Honestly I didn’t think about that. Thank you! That very well may have been the issue. Hopefully later I can do those because it was the best thing I’ve had since surgery but it made me have some pretty rough issues!

And as a former. home canner often there are hidden sugars but also the pickling process contains an high amount of sodium ( salt) . MAYBE THAT IS WHERE THE SENSATIVITY IS AT?

You're still in the "introduce new foods one at a time and see how it goes" stage. Try again in a few weeks and see if you can handle it. (Maybe bring it home so you have a bathroom handy ;))

Yeah I’ll definitely have to try that. I’ve been having a extremely bad time with introducing new foods. I got sick one time but I pretty much just dry heaved and made myself vomit because my chest pain was so bad. I threw up a few tiny bits but it was mainly foam. Is that what everyone calls foamies because I never want to experience that again. Since then it’s been hard for me to not be terrified of eating.

Pickles are a fermented food that can change the microbiota (bacteria) in your gut.

The good news...is that pickles will add to the helpful bacteria population.

The bad news...is that your gut is likely very out of balance ater surgery, and it'll take some time to get everything balanced again.

Don't give up on pickles or Pickle Juice. But next time, when you're feeling brave.... try to pair it with some Fiber. (Pickle bugs eat fiber) If you do, it might help even things out:) Good luck!

Lol thank you! I’ll have to try again when I’m feeling brave and very close to a restroom. 😅

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
