Pouch Reset

Has anyone done a pouch reset because they have gained weight after surgery? Does this work?

Can't say with authority whether it does or doesn't.

But I can offer this little anecdote...which is pretty much just an anecdote...lol

Couple months ago, I had a couple days when I didn't feel very well....just felt kinda nauseated and rough....so I quit eating for about 48 hours to give my digestion a rest. I took my Vitamins, stayed well hydrated, drank a couple of Protein Shakes and nibbled on a Protein bar....but for the most part, didn't eat much of anything for two days.

Third day, I felt terrific again, and ravenous. Tried to eat and found that my capacity for food shrunk massively. Food wasn't making me ill at all, and I ate multiple times that day cause I was so hungry.....But I have to say, to me, this is evidence that giving your tummy a rest can cause it to contract down some and hold less again.

I'm sure results vary, and this might just be a conclusion I came to cause I was trying to be careful.....but I really think I ate a lot less for a while until I worked up to more food.....after just that 48 hour break.

So there ya go....take what you like and leave the rest.

Best wishes!

The lesson learned by those of us who had to follow a pre-op liquid diet continues to serve us. I'm still amazed at what a little ketosis can do. And I'll always remember the sense of pride I felt when I was able to successfully complete those seven days. It doesn't surprise me, then, that this reset worked. A pouch reset.< /span> I think I'll add that term to my weight-loss glossary.

One of mine is
MNNM- "makes no never mind," this means it doesn't mattter, relax and move on
DGGD Impolite phrasing for "that is of little importance to me"
And one I'd like to see
dmiok " doesn't matter Its okay" I repeat this to myself when I am self- critical. Relax, things do happen for the best!

It does work, I don't now why, but every month I revert to the beginning stages: liquids and soft foods for about two day and my restriction is very high again.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
