Just wanted to post some encouragement for everyone starting the preop diet. I’m on day 10 and I promise it does get better. I’m still hungry but I don’t have headaches and feel crappy. My surgery is in 5 days so that is motivation to stay strong! Good luck to everyone in surgery today!

Thanks! Today is day 1 of my liquid diet and I'm struggling!

Hi Diana, glad to meet you, I'm having an RnY on September 5th,so you will beat me to surgery. Which kind are you having and where are you ilocated? I am in Central Ohio, lived within 60 miles of my city all my life. My surgery will be in Columbus but I live in Mount Vernon, 48 miles NE if there.

If you weren't nervous, you wouldn't be human. I'm the Brave Little Engine, that Could and I realize,i'm setting, off into a brave new 🌍world. Can be only,be few who have studied more what will happen than I, been 3 years after all. We are going into a place where we do have a map, but what if the map isn't right? Cliffs may have fallen, New roads may have been built. And none of us knows exactly how our own bodies will react to this 🌀challenge. But we still go forward, we've come too far to turn around. And we see the stars shining ahead., don't we?😛🌞☀🌈

I am scheduled to have gastric bypass on August 27th. I will know more after I go for my presurgical appointment on Monday. I am amazed at how fast this happened after I submitted my 6th month doctor monitored diet paperwork to BCN.

My sleeve surgery is on Monday the 13th! Starting my two day Clear Liquids only today! The two week pre op diet was difficult mentally more than physically but I am so excited to be moving to the next stage and so nervous for surgery

Started my liquid pre-op diet yesterday. I have horrible stomach cramps now! Could it be the Protein Shakes? You would think this healthy eating would cause awesome BMs but nope! Ugh 😑

Today was the first time I really understood how small my stomach was. So I made scrambled eggs. Just one egg. I ate maybe a forth of it and was full.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
