Gastric sleeve surgery AGAIN

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I had Gastric sleeve surgery in 2015, I started of at 375lbs and lost just over 100lbs to date. I've had three little ones since then, yes three! After about three months post surgery I got pregnant and although I still had great results, being pregnant three years in a row definitely put a strain on my weight loss. My question is can I have the surgery again seeing as I'm still overweight and not losing weight any more? I'm absolutely done with having children and really want to give the surgery another go, this time without any intervals.

Hi,

Congrats on everything so far!!! Meet with a surgeon for a consult but they will likely try for a conversion to either RNY or DS (SIPS) , VSG was originally intended to be a two part surgery for super morbidly obese patients with the first part being the VSG to reduce the weight enough to safely continue with DS. VSG worked so well many patients never needed part two. This may be something to discuss with your prior team or a new one but from what I hear it's rare to redo a VSG.

SAFE JOURNEY AGAIN!!!

Yea, I would talk to your surgeon about a revision to a different surgery

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
