Moving to UHC PPO starting Jan

Recommended Posts

I'm currently with Blue Cross of CA and next week our open enrollment for insurance starts and they are no longer offering Blue Cross. So now I gotta choose UHC PPO or Kaiser of CA.

I finished my Psych Eval (yesterday), sleep Test (have sleep apeana), and just couple more steps then ill be finished to send into insurance.

I'm thinking that if I send in the stuff to Blue Cross that they will deny me cause my insurance is ending at end of Dec. So is it best to wait Jan and send it into UHC? or send Blue Cross ASAP?

Only problem I have is with UHC is that I don’t have 5year record of BMI 35+ Medical. I have record from 2001 (BMI 37) then 2006 (BMI 42) and 2007 (BMI 46) Medical Record.

Was hoping my long list of medical issue and family, would over rule the 5year record.

Any help would be very helpful.

Thanks

Hi there! I just went thru a similar situation! I actually was able to switch prior to OPEN ENROLLEMENT. I left Kaiser after 17yrs! I simply had to request my medical records be sent to my NEW provider which is UHC choice plus.. That may be all you have to do if you choose to wait till your "new" insurance kicks in..

hope that helps

Well... today was just a ordinary day except

1. Taking a short nap after turning alarm off and waking up and its 9:38am (late)(yes I did change it hour back awhile back)

2. racing to work to find out my its only 8:43am.

3. Leaving cellphone in car.

4. Getting Email from Hospital saying....... We have called you couple times to let you know you have been APPROVED#$@#$ and We like to setup preop appointment and surgery day@#$@#$ OMG@#$@#$

I havent complete the seminar (20th) which was my last task before sending information to insurance company and wait for approval. I was also worried cause company switching to UHC PPO with different requirements.

So.....

Surgery date: Dec 3rd w/ Blue Cross of CA

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
