I found a protein shake on Amazon that has 40 grams of protein in each carton

Thank you Kim. Are you going to order some?

I really don’t supplement much with shakes at this point as I am almost eight months post op. Those are almost 300 calories a piece! I would rather eat my food than drink it.

I would be curious how they taste though.

I wouldn't want to have to drink 6 more ounces (compared to Premier Protein) to get the other 10 g of Protein. It would almost be easier to drink 2 Premier Proteins (22 oz) and then you get 60g of protein. But to each their own. Maybe they taste amazing.

Exactly ...

These have only slightly more protein per once, and higher calories per ounce than Premier Protein or Muscle Milk Pro.

Oh I am going to buy Premier and Pure Protein Shakes also. I am trying to get all of my Protein goals in. I do not mind drinking my food. I am also going to order Premier Protein bars that have 35 grams of protein each. In addition I will be making salads with broccoli, cauliflower, and balsamic dressing.

I am drinking the LaBrada shakes pre-op and will be drinking them post op along with other avenues of Protein,

The chocolate tastes almost like a YooHoo. Salted caramel is ok too. NOT a fan of mocha.

Before you order a bunch...they sell them individually at convenience stores here in TX. Most QT’s and 7/11’s. If they have them in your area, you might want to try the flavors before you buy a lot.

Most important thing - can you tolerate them, or preferably, like them? These things don't do any good if they just sit in your garage unused after you choke on the first one. see if you can buy one to try somewhere first (I never got along with any of the RTD drinks; just learned how to make the powdered ones the way I like them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
