nauseated at work and need advice

Recommended Posts

I need help, I'm at work and I'm so nauseated, I've been for hours. I try going in the restroom and hang my head over the toilet hoping to just throw up. i hope it would make me feel better.

Now i have done very well without soda, dont need it don't want it. I don't want to ruin my sleeve, I want to take care of it the best I can, but I'm in a bind, there is nothing here but bending machines full of crap. I don't feel good at all. in one machine there is some finer ale. if I let it go flat can I drink some. I'm desperate. all that sugar, ugh I don't want it but I'm at a loss of what to do.

also, I cant go home sick, I just got written up for being over my quota. so that's out of the question. any advice. I'm in tears

Putting an alcohol prep pad on my nose helped me with nausea after surgery. If you don't have those, maybe put a little alcohol gel hand sanitizer on???

My co-workers made me a bag of goodies for the hospital and one of the best things in it is a product called Quease Ease. It's a little smelly thing you peel the lid off of and inhale to relieve nausea. It's the same premise as the alcohol pads (which also works great and nurses have done this for years!). They are a great smell--very minty! You can order them off of Amazon.

thank you, I'll have to do that Friday. I work 12 hour shifts so I need to wait till then. but I think I know what is causing it. I think I have to go to the bathroom but I can't, I think my stomach feels like I have diarrhea but I can't go which is making my stomach hurt and causing my nausea. I keep trying but I can't. sorry for being so graphic.

If you are already approved for solid foods, is there anywhere you can order from that can bring you a bottle of Water and a grilled chicken salad maybe? (I realize this might be a little late at this point) Also, any of the "Diet" drinks when de-carbonated would be a better choice than any of the standard sodas.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
