Tracking app suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a nutrition tracking app? Are there any geared towards us?

I always used my fitness pal, but just got calorie shamed by them for only consuming 300 calories today. I’d like something more tailored to our needs!

Ignore those pop-up messages for nutrients and caloric intake in that app. It is set up primarily for people who work out and only need to lose a few pounds. It is a great resource because of the large food database. I prefer to use it over LoseIt! and Baritastic. LoseIt! has a more limited food database and I had to enter many of my nutrition labels for the foods I was tracking. Baritastic is a great resource for things other than just tracking.

For MyFitnessPal, I just changed my daily caloric intake goal to 800 for my pre-op diet. I have been about 100 cals under each day since I changed it on Sunday. I have yet to get the pop-up for calories, but I do get them for fat and for sodium (I love jalapeno and garlic stuffed green olives for a snack). I take them with a grain of salt and use them as a reminder to watch what I am eating.

If 300 calories are where you currently should be for your daily intake, screw the pop-up. It is a good app, in my opinion. I just wish I could justify the expense to get rid of the ads.

I had used the complete diary button, because it will tell you your projected weight in five weeks if you continue eating that amount. It’s a neat little bonus.

I am one week post op and have no calorie goal per say, just a list approved foods with Protein and fluid goals.< /p>

Is that with MyFitnessPal? I've never used that button... maybe I should try. Thanks!

Track with it but don't try to post or submit daily logs and you'll be fine. I still think it's the easiest, I use it everyday and never submit, everything is still saved.

I also have baritastic, but they want you to do too much, some days I don't have the energy for it.

100% my thoughts. Baritastic is good but had a Soup that was not on their list. Tried adding it but could not figure out what to do. Stopped using it after that. Really the only thing I liked better was the Water tracking part of it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
