soccrmom23 31 Posted July 24, 2018 So my surgery was July 16th, i'm on week 2. According to my "packet" of dietary dos and donts it lists things you can eat/work your way up to each week. But yesterday I pushed up the week a day and had very liquidy cream of potato Soup - no potato chunks, i took my kids to applebees and had their cream soup. i ate half, ate the other half 2-3 hours later. while this wasnt the healthiest option, i tolerated it. Today, i ate won ton soup broth and chewed the hell out of the noodle it was basically massacred lol. I tolerated that as well. Then at dinner time i had a few spoonfuls of mashed potatos (which according to the rules, isnt until week 3). So while i may be pushing it, am I harming anything???? I've read a gastric sleeve cookbook from Amazon that actually lists some pretty odd choices for food for week 2 post op that isnt necessarily listed in my packet received from surgeon/nutritionist. I pretty much stick to what is on list but add a little and maybe off the timeline listed. I'm wondering should I do this? not do this? Ive had no adverse affects, i have not felt sick, i started to get the burps a little and a little tightness but thats when i stop and figure i'm done/full. Thoughts or experiences? 1 GreenTealael reacted to this

macadamia 591 Posted July 25, 2018 I know that you will receive all kinds of answers for this, but my paperwork specifically says that my nutritionist must advance my diet. Also, my paperwork says not to introduce starchy vegetables until after week 6. That being said, each surgeon has their own way of dealing with the post-op diet until you get to maintenance. As Tealael says, ask your team about your specific case. I do not think you have hurt anything but there is a reason for the post-op diet advances. They have the experience to know what works and has the least chance for complications. Good luck!
MissSimpson 81 Posted July 25, 2018 Different doctors ask different things of you. I've learned that on here. My doctor had me on soft solids after two weeks. I think you should be ok. Just listen to what your body is telling you, and don't overdo it. If you do, you will throw up. I promise.
soccrmom23 31 Posted July 25, 2018 So far no intolerance to anything but I think i'm going to heed everyones advice and comments and stick to diet plan. Difficult to remember to drink my 2 Protein Shakes a day as well being as you're not really hungry. FYI pure Protein - vanilla & chocolate are DA BOMB and started low fat vanilla greek yogurt today it was absolutely delicious and super cheap from Walmart - I got the walmart (great value) brand it was fantastic
BajanSleeve 244 Posted July 26, 2018 Try to stay away from starchy veg, potatoes, Pasta, rice. Its way too early for them and even later, remember weight loss is a goal and they will slow your WL down. Try sweet potato instead of white potato when you do crave starch. Its a different kind of carb. I drank watered down premade Protein Drinks (glucerna protein) by day 9 post surgery that had in milk. I also made very watered down squash and sweet potato Soup that I strained by day 10. I felt like I would have fainted without something that had flavor substance so I get where you are coming from
