My surgeon who did my sleeve does the revision and I am calling today for an appointment to discuss, I will let you know what they say!

If you use the search function you will find many posted threads about sleeve to bypass revisions I’m sure. Many here have had them and it’s posted on here fairly frequently.

Just curious why you want to go from sleeve to bypass, I am deciding which one to have, I initially went in for sleeve after talking to surgeon and about my body the bypass sounded like it would be for me, now that I have a date I am thinking which one should I do. Any advice would be helpful.

If you have a lot of weight to lose and/or have GERD/heartburn many docs will suggest the bypass. I completely wish I would have had the bypass years ago when I had my sleeve. My sleeve caused me outrageous heartburn and I felt no restriction after a while. And by a while, I mean months after. I felt afraid to eat and I was so hungry.

But the sleeve has been great for most people whom have it. I just can’t fathom how some people whom have the sleeve are only able to eat 6 ounces or less when I was eating full plates of Protein and feeling like I was before the sleeve. Again, I am not down playing the sleeve, it just wasn’t for me

Surgery went as smoothly as possible. Absolutely no complications and only spent 1 night in hospital. Recovery is hard and I was tired but that’s only temporary

I had VSG on 2/5/2014 and did well. I thought my reflux was controlled well with meds. I was starting to have some reflux symptoms even with meds. I had an endoscopy and it showed damage. The meds weren’t working. I revised to RNY on 6/26/2018 and it went well. I had a smooth recovery and am feeling good! It was way less scary than I imagined.

The problem isn’t the medicine. PPIs just mask the symptoms of GERD/reflux/heartburn; they do not stop acid from still damaging your esophagus or stomach because they do NOT resolve the root cause of GERD.

I went from VSG to RNY due to excessive GERD issues. Things have been good thus far....I'm about 6 weeks out...weight loss is slow but steady. I wish I had gone for the RNY first. I think that's where my greatest success on this journey will come from.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
