Meh. Potayto. Potahto. :) We all have our styles and order of magnitude. :D

(I ate a Wasa the other night. SLATHERED in mayo, with turkey and REAL cheese.)

Wait what other cheese is there? Asking for a (different) friend 😬

hahaha fake cheese aka 2% reduced fat cheese that "my friend" claims is not real cheese.

This was Longhorn cheddar and I had a couple of risky moments after eating it where body thought it wanted to rebel, but I spanked it into submission and ended up getting past it. LOL.

Question: If I can eat a whole two cups of lettuce + other veggie in one sitting, should I do it? It seems like salad is the only thing I can eat a lot of as long as I dont touch the Protein.

I heart questions like this! :D

I too face a dilemma of this. I can easily eat a small regular side salad with lots of diff watery crisp veggies. And I can eat 2-3oz of Protein. But the question is, should I? Does it really do any damage if I'm kinda "wide open?" Or is it just an opportunity to get in lots of healthy vits and mins from the veg!?!

Will be interested in hearing everyone's opinion and advice girlie!!!

(Also, I've been making a big salad like that and at the meal I will eat almost all the protein first. Then will eat about 1/2 the salad. I put it away until mid-afternoon snack time when I feel peckish around 4pm. I then eat the rest of the salad and tiny bit of protein that's left.)

AND BTW!!! That big ass salad looks AHHHHHH-MAY-ZING!!! I need it, STAT!!! Like, Get. IN. MAH. BELLEH!!!!!

Exactly!!! Salad is great, lots of nutritional value, low cals, etc but is it best to practice eating small still? Should this only be done after your goal is met? Can it open the door to overeating again? Too many questions lol Looking forward to the advice 😊

I do that too with all my meals. I try to stick to protein first then veggie second if i have room. I just switch this rule up with salad. I do veggies first then protein because I noticed my leftovers were too soggy and I didnt like it so food would go to waste.

Lol thanks! it was delicious!

To me it almost feels like there are two groups.

Group1: Those still early on from surgery who have resistance and are not yet "fully mature pouches."

Group2: Those who are progressed to fully mature pouch status who have a larger capacity.

In that case, it's like Dr. Weiner says here. If you are hungry, fill it up with healthy veg, fruit, some nuts/seeds/beans, etc:

Honestly I think if you experiment and pureed or blended salad vegetables they would be a lot less impressive. Almost all Water and Fiber thats why very little cals. So I personally never fret over the amount/volume in them plus who doesn't need more fiber or vegetable at this point (later in the game when Protein isn't a problem)😬

Yes! I so wanted to hear this answer. :D TY! (Cuz you know I also do a lot of "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...") lol.

But yeah, I get so amused to make a big ass salad for like 47 cals BD&F (before dressing and fun)

I think for someone as far out as you (i.e., 4 months), maybe eat all your Protein first, and if you have room you can go to town with the salad that you portioned out?

P.S. I'm more than a year out, and I normally finish my greens first, if I can (cuz I ❤️ salad). But I am not in danger of missing my protein goals anyway, so it doesn't really matter for me.

This was yesterday’s brunch. Didn’t even eat til 11 am, but this is absolutely all I was able to get down.
Lol, had to wait an hour before I could move onto my wine.

Sooooo jelly of the spicy mayo!
I have a cast Iron sleeve—except when it comes to mayo and butter
Then it’s stomach cramps galore.

Man I miss mayo......

Awww. Sorry for the sad little hospital food. I see milk there and I would’ve been all over that, but not even the cookie/brownie thing looks good.

Still re-living vicariously from my vacay last week:

Had THE BEST late lunch at the art museum last Thursday:
This cheese board and meat platter were TO DIE FOR.
Shared this with hubs and we still left about half of the food.
Sadly the plates were cleared when I made a quick restroom break so didn’t get an after pic.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
