heading off to costco now to stock my fridge/pantry (and probably come home with 10 boxes of aluminum foil, or mabye a kayak, lol...who else goes to costco and buys sh*te they don't need??!?!?!?)

While we have a Costco in Brisbane it’s a 45+ min drive away so couldn’t be bothered but it sounds like an Australian visit to Bunnings (hardware). My sister-in-law & I went for a bag of potting mix and some of those big gardening hand rake scoop things which would have cost us less than $20 total. We came out with an overflowing trolley and had spent about $400 between us. Outdoor Xmas lights, pool inflatables (xmas presents for my young nieces & nephew), plants, dog Shampoo & conditioner, microfibre cleaning cloths, silk flowers, hanging basket, … I promise we needed all of it 🤣🤣🤣

ha, the coconut bun did the stomach filling job, i guess. softish bread tends to take a loooooong while for me to digest....🤷🏻‍♀️

Funny you say that.

So I eat pretty small portions but my stomach empties quickly. Yesterday I only ate half a small salad for lunch and went to a doctors appointment which lasted forever so I was famished by the time I got home, the hubs had some homemade sliders hot and waiting for me, so I took off the top part of the mini bun and almost finished the whole patty and the other half of the bun. Usually I’m hungry again 1.5-2 hours after dinner so I would snack on something before bed, but man I was soooo full I couldn’t even have Water without being uncomfortable. Reckon it was that half bun?

Toad in the hole is something different @ms.sss. It’s sausages, usually beef but can be pork, baked in yorkshire pudding batter. Served with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and whatever other vegetables.

well that sounds even more delicious...you have inspired me just now to try my hand at making yorkshire pudding...never have but always wanted to try.

Have to admit I’ve never made them either. I remember mum making toad in the hole when we were young but never plain Yorkshire puddings. Watch them making them on all the UK cooking shows and I think one day.

PS. Mentioning UK cooking shows, does anyone else find Prue Leith annoying. Forcing myself to watch her Cotswold Kitchen at the moment & find myself criticising her & complaining the whole time. She’s annoying on Bake-off too. Yet I enjoyed her back in the day on Great British Menu. I’m team Mary berry all the way.

My ex is from Yorkshire, I ditched him but kept making the puddings 😂 When I'm cooking for the family Xmas dinner, it's prime rib and yorkshire pudding with gravy as the main. They're not hard, but require a very hot oven to come out properly.

dinner tonight!!

Butter chicken and a vegetable samosa. First picture is before dinner, then after dinner; the third is after second dinner.

WLS has turned me into a hobbit. I eat Breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch, dinner, second dinner. I feel like I eat every 2 hours and all the time.

So I made shakshuka for the fam this morning. There was Tomato gravy left that I later heated and cracked two eggs in with a slice of sesame sourdough.

What I plated (very ambitious, but what’s new)

How I did. Has almost one whole white and two bites of the sourdough.

Looks good! I feel you! I eat all the time too but it's very important to eat meals. I work out a lot and have to eat! My body is always like HELLO time to eat! I'm kinda on a schedule. So far it has worked for me eating frequently. Weight loss is still consistent about 2 to 2.5 pounds per week. I also stick to FULL fats keeps me fuller longer! P.S also because the food noise/cravings are gone sometimes I eat like a body builder the same S!#t everyday 😂

This is pretty similar to the one I use. They key to a good recipe is a high egg to milk ratio, so you get proper height and rise. I do alter it a bit though. I add finely diced fresh herbs and garlic. And I used lard as the fat, as t's easily available and has a high smoke point.

I am also team Mary berry 🤣 but ultimately I gave up on TGBBO because I found everyone very very whiny.

Now if you watch American cooking shows, I find Ree Drummond (The pioneer woman) annoying.

The Mary berry era was much better on TGBBO. Mel & Sue too (though I do like Noel - think that’s tied to him being in The IT Crowd sitcom which I enjoyed 😁). Though if you want really bad watch the NZ version. The Australian one has a lot if forced laughter at very bad jokes & puns by the bakers but the NZ one is the worst. We don’t get a lot of US cooking shows here in Aust but I will avoid Ree Drummond if she ever starts here.

I got a Mary berry cook book as a wedding present 49 years a go. I [and my family ] am eternally greatful to the lady for the simple recipes and good pictures in it. I enjoy cooking because of that thoughtful present.

I don't mind Pru Leith on the show, she plays second fiddle to Paul Hollywood but I admit she needs to loosen up a bit. I do look forward to seeing what bad clothes and plastic 'jewels' she has on. Noel and Alison are a good team but she is everywhere on English TV and its a bit same old, same old zany stuff. I don't want to see her anymore for a few years.

I have never seen the NZ GBBO but oh boy the Aussies have murdered Masterchef.

My badge of hate goes to the one time footballer and now advert for face lifts, Gordon Ramsey. He is a proper tit. Why would you want to watch an ego that big. I would smash his unperfect face with a big cast Iron frying pan for ever daring to speak to me like he does. The people on the show just need help. They should not need embarrassing along the way

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
