um...i cut myself like at least once a month, ha!

Me too. Lol! Always seem to have a bandaid on one finger or another. Swear I’m responsible for a major percentage of Johnson & Johnson’s profits. Almost needed one on a toe yesterday when I dropped a knife. I must be excessively clumsy.

Some food from my road trip:

Classic (tourist trap 😀) burger and fries in Arizona. This became my only meal split throughout the day. I loved it.

Flan and butter bundt cake with local tea selections (😊) in New Mexico. I barely ate any because it was a super sweet dumpling risk but I really like flan.

This is my nightmare fuel every time my clumsy kid asks to help me prepare a meal.

I make a roasted acorn squash last night with chicken for my husband and I and he really liked them. I went the more savory route.

My dad makes a stuffed acorn squash recipe that is delicious but might need to be tweaked for newer surgery patients (like me), but I thought I would share since they seem to be a big hit!

same.

i make a mean, super duper sweet filipino milk flan. i limit myself to like a single bite or two at a time but i will say its a hit at parties.

FILIPINO LECHE FLAN:

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 room temperature egg yolks ( i usually use the unused egg whites to make a palvova or almond Cookies or macarons)
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • (optional) 1 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar

DIRECTIONS:

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • melt sugar in bottom of pans
  • whisk egg yolks
  • add condensed milk, stir until combined
  • add evaporated milk, vanilla and optional lime & mix well (slowly so no air bubbles)
  • pour mixture through cheesecloth or sieve to remove any undissolved bits
  • pour into pans
  • tap the pans onto hard surface to remove any bubbles
  • cover pans loosely with foil
  • put pans into a roasting pan then fill roasting pan with Water until reaches halfway up the flan pans
  • bake 35-40 mins until set (firm but still jiggly)
  • let cool and put in fridge for at least 3 hours
  • remove from pan by placing a plate on top and carefully flipping over to release to goodness lol

yesterday's smoked salmon avocado salad was so yum, i made another one...this time i added more stuff just cuz.

salmon, avocado, strawberries, dried cranberries, gouda, brocollini, and....pumpkin pie!! haha, it was the last slice leftover from (canadian) thanksgiving last week hahah...didn't end up eating any of it anyway (and none of the brocollini either for some reason), but ate maybe ½ of everything else.

704 calories for the plate...not gonna adjust for what i actually ate cuz im most likely gonna finish the rest later.

isnt it so colourful and pretty????

Was craving a fall comfort bake, and happened to come across some giant chinese Fuji apples at the grocery store and picked up one. Made some “healthier” apple crumble that I topped with Keto ice cream and it turned out sooooo good. The hubby and I shared this but he ate more than me.

I still have quite a bit of the apple filling left, might make this again tomorrow or make some pancakes with stewed apples on top.

lol great minds...(i.e., ice cream!)...it was another unusually warm day for this time of year around these parts, so i made Mr. take me out to get some. they were out of pistachio (my fave flavour) so we went to the grocery to buy a tub (and a box of sugar cones) instead. no Keto ice cream for me...this is the full fat-sugar-cream version, ha.

this likely will be the last picture of me standing upright today, i think...as i ate the entire thing and the anticipated dumping im about to experience will surely have me regret it in 3..2..1...

I wish I looked this cool holding an ice cream!! P.S. You don’t look a day over 30.

Regarding the Keto ice cream, unfortunately that’s all I had in my freezer and it is definitely not my first choice. But it was good nonetheless, I’ve had two tubs of it sitting in my freezer for way too long.

@ms.sss you absolutely must get a Ninja Creami. You can make your own delicious ice cream in whatever flavor you want, fat-free and sugar-free, with extra Protein if you like. I make pistachio all the time and it is delicious.

How I did (apologies for the non aesthetically pleasing photo).

I am such a foodie ...this looks so good! I'm from Texas and can't wait for crawfish season. I do a lot of seafood boils with crab legs, sausage, eggs etc! I make all my seafood Bari friendly. I miss drenching all my seafood in butter 😩😩

Yesterday’s lunch and dinner and today’s Breakfast.

Lunch- after pics of the salad and mini cannolis. I only ate 2 bites of Soup as lunch just wasn’t my jam.

Dinner- only grabbed an after of the salad but ate a small roll with about a tsp butter, 3/4 the steak, 4 bites of the underside of the chicken (it was dry and the sauce was gross), both carrots, 2 bites of asparagus (less than 1/2 a spear), and about 1/3 of the mashed potatoes underneath. I ate about 1/4 of the 2 Desserts offered because I split with a friend.

I also had some 1/3 cup street corn dip, 2 mini pita, half an eggroll filled with black Beans and corn, a mini eggroll, and 2tbsp hummus as a snack yesterday and chips with queso during bingo. I gave my alcoholic drink tickets to someone else because after half a glass of champagne I was done drinking alcohol.

Breakfast- coffee had half and half and I drank it all. Drank about 6oz of the milk but ate the yogurt and oatmeal.

I didn’t eat any of the mid-morning pastries offered today and the boxed lunch I picked was a roasted vegetable wrap with balsamic dressing, 4oz of potato salad, a cookie and I stopped and picked up green beans from the truck stop. I ate 1/4 cup of the green beans, 3/4 of the potato salad, pulled off about a 1/3 of the tortilla before eating the wrap and gave away the cookie.

I can’t wait to have surgery next week because within 1-3hrs of eating I’m in unbelievable pain. I can chug my Water like I could a few months ago for the same reason and I’m over it.

Thank youuuuuu. These are the compliments I live for and is especially appreciated since my boyfriend just said that I’m “either dressed to the nines or look like a hobo. There’s no in between.” He’s not wrong 😑

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
