also ok, one last over the top food order as my road trip has come to an end and i *thought* i was starving and everything sounded so good.

IMG_8317.thumb.jpeg.c6da74e1a14f5e4542167c1da9c371cb.jpeg

the side garden salad that automatically came with the entree. i had just one forkful cuz i wanted to conserve stomach space.

IMG_8318.thumb.jpeg.b27e44f5ba3b8c9efe96bf5fd1ac9d9e.jpeg

french onion Soup. this was probably the best tasting broth of a french onion soup i ever had omg. but it was a little oily from the cheese and lardons (! never had lardons in an FOS before and i didn't hate it). drank maybe 1/2 of the broth, with a small bite of a cheese covered crouton and a 2-3 lardon pieces.

IMG_8319.thumb.jpeg.738b0df4859cc5fed73a44c589c47867.jpeg

a burger and with a side of mushrooms. I did not even try the burger because the height of it put me off and the bread looked like i would be picking pieces out of my braces for days. the mushrooms however were so yum, had maybe 5 of them.

IMG_8320.thumb.jpeg.11da8220925eadbb723dbcca7a8a4f5c.jpeg

i also ordered an "extra" side of bone marrow...i ate one with a bit of the bread (maybe 1" square?), as again, i wanted to save stomach space.

IMG_8329.thumb.jpg.75661c1e1c4d7e3c5253a42b6967913b.jpg

luckily, i ordered beef tartare with sweet potato fries with the intention to share with the table. since i didn't want the burger, this became my entree. tartare was delicious, ate maybe 2/3 of what is shown here, plus 4-5 sweet potato fries dipped in the the spicy mayo.

....and yes, not to worry, my meal companions ate almost all of what i didn't. i can always count on them!

i have no idea the calorie count, i did not track anything i ate the past few days.

tomorrow morning i'll see if all this food tracking abandon made a diff on the scale....

Not boring at all! They look so yummy.

Du mind sharing the recipe?

This is what I did using two different recipes as a guide.

120g/4.5oz grated zucchini - squeeze well

100g/4ozs other vegetables (I used defrosted frozen corn & peas, but you could use coarse grated cauliflower or broccoli, celery, grated carrot, etc. Could use another zucchini.)

1/4 cup Parmesan (could use feta instead)

1 large egg

bare 1/2 cup plain flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder (I used bicarbonate)

1 clove of garlic

1/4 teaspoon cumin (could use more if you like it and use cauliflower)

salt & pepper

If mix is a little dry & stiff add a little milk though it shouldn’t be very wet at all unlike traditional fritters.

I shallow fried in about 2 tablespoons of oil. Might try air fryer next time though they weren’t oily or greasy at all.

This is probably the recipe I followed most. Recipe Tin has some good recipes. I like how she usually has the facility to select how many portions you want and the recipe will update accordingly.

Nothing excites me more than groceries and a neatly stocked Kitchen. It is truly a privilege :1007_hearts:

Most of the time.

The crackers were an Amazon fresh deal. Normally like $4something a box but on sale 2 for $5 and there’s a promo for spend $35 get $10 off. Which goes before the 2 for $5 sale price. The ones I bought weren’t all that $4.69 pre sale price so I ended up with 10 boxes of different kinds for $15. Example pictures show 8 of the same kind for $10.

The broths were also an Amazon fresh deal of buy one get one free with a normal price of $1.69 each.

Other Amazon fresh items- green grapes 3lbs for 1.99, tortillas $.98, 12ct english muffins $1.35, hot dog Buns $.97, coleslaw mix $1.89, tofu $1.52, and Parmesan cheese had a 50% off coupon making it $3.14

I still use the Flashfood app for most of my produce so that’s where the strawberries ($.50 each), cucumbers ($.30 each) and eggplant, avocado, and peppers ($3 bag) came from. They do apply a service fee but for my order it was only $.38

Kroger was the red grapes ($.89/lb), eggs ($1.99/18ct), and potatoes (1.88).

meijer and Aldi were the rest of it with discounted produce at Meijer. The pink bottle thing is strawberry daiquiri tea which came from Aldi’s aisle of shame. 😂

7- there’s me, 1 under 1, and then kids from 9-19. So 12 egg cheese English muffins is only 2 breakfasts.

And there’s nothing wrong with expensive groceries. If I could afford real crab and dry aged steaks I’d definitely be eating those. Instead I just work with what I’ve got. What makes me jealous is the price at some stores in the UK. 😭 The one time I did I mock shop (virtual cart that I didn’t check out) at I think it was Asda? it was like $75US and it was so much stuff.

update: it made no difference (which i have come to expect over the years...the new norm is that i generally Do Not gain weight on vacay! yay!)

left weighing 115.2 lbs, came back 4 days later weighing 114.6 this morning (and i haven't even pooped yet, omg)

i know ate and drank more than usual, but i was also out and about like all the waking hours (besides sitting to eat&drink) so that makes sense. plus Mr. coerced me to go the to hotel gym every morning to start our days 🙄)

I wish more people had it. It’s a great tool for me. However, if you have a Whole Foods there’s a QR code in your Amazon app that lets you save more in their store on certain items.
Trader Joe’s is also a great option as well as local international stores for certain things.
Im guessing by the user name you live in FL. If you have a publix check out their weekly ads and shop based on that and digital coupons.

I know Kroger sends me coupons for stuff I buy often as does Meijer (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana based) which is mostly free or cheap produce or meat now so I’m sure other stores do the same.

Meals so far for today along with 6oz of caramel macchiato and a medium skinny mocha. Oh and my current calorie count. I’m not really hungry (it’s currently 6pm) so I might eat a snack but I dunno.

Breakfast- plain nonfat Greek yogurt, strawberries, and a baked strawberry oatmeal bar cut up

lunch- Beans and peppers over Spanish rice and chihuahua cheese that I ate in the car because my son had an appointment.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
