Generally it’s super expensive and a lot of insurers dropped coverage either July 2023 or January 2024 so unless a person definitely has coverage the next best step is compounding pharmacies. My hope is that this is the beginning of the race towards a cure for obesity.

My hopes are the same it has certainly gotten a lot of attention so perhaps it will help reduce some of the stigma at the very least. I have two friends that are currently on them for weight and they have shockingly low copays. My one friend showed me the pharmacy paper where it said her insurance saved her X dollars and I don’t remember the exact amount but It was well over a thousand.dollars. I follow Dr Weiner too so I learned about them when they were fairly newly being used for weight loss. I also looked into it before i went with my revision, but my insurance does not cover them for weight loss as of when I scheduled my surgery. My family provider’s office is currently working on getting compounded version to offer to their patients and hope to get the price under $200 a month they said but the NP said she would not put off surgery waiting on all insurance to cover it or for them to get a good compound because those things usually take quite a while.

Seeing this gave me an idea! I think I will make some of these tomorrow but put laters of sliced zucchini rounds in each muffin tin! I'm hungry just thinking about them!

I’ve made these a few times and they were surprisingly good!

another day, another (clone-like) salad. this is my first meal of the day (at 3pm) cuz i decided i needed help with my handstand so i went to a "handstand workshop" this AM. everyone was super cool and nice so i ended up hanging out at the studio afterwards and totally lost track of time!

anyway got home and realized i actually ran out of leafy greens, so this baby is just chopped carrots, apples and cucumber topped with bacon pieces and an entire burrata ball! (with balsamic glaze and a homemade vinaigrette)

463 calories for the bowl, ate ALL the burrata (yum!), and maybe 2/3 of the rest of the stuff.

Kitty mustn’t be a salad lover like his mummy. 😉

I am only 8 months out and still sometimes use my Protein Shake when I know I didn’t met my Protein intake and when I am on the run.

I still have sweet tooth specially when it’s the time of the month. I try eating natural sugar from fruit to soothe my craving.

I learn to love Greek yogurt. I put small portion of fruit, nuts, and sometimes with granola and drizzle of raw honey. This morning I put 3small figs, almond and walnut, a little bit of honey over 2% fat Greek yogurt.  It’s delicious.

Looks yummy!! I have a bad sweet tooth as well (Love chocolate). I make my own peanut/cashew butter cups. I found the Peanut Butter cup molds on Temu. The Protein Shakes I love because it's chocolate and satisfies my deadly sweety tooth. I am almost 6 months out as well and the Protein shakes is mostly how I get my protein from a restrictive pouch. No complaints here:

How much food can everyone eat now? Those of you further out? So many delicious food post but I can only enjoy about 1 cup of food at a time. I'm about 5 months out!
Over 3 yrs from revision (gerd) and I can eat about a cup of food comfortably. I always think I can eat the whole steak though but that feeling goes away after a few bites lol. I think Protein will always be like that for me. So it really depends on what I eat.

Either way, it's really fun & liberating to be able to experiment and eat all these delicious foods and focus on quality instead of quantity.

How long did it take you all to tolerate bread? I’m 2.5 months post vsg and really struggle to tolerate most breads and especially wraps

By 6 months out, I feel like I could eat double of I can right after surgery. Nutritionists said that’s because I am working out now. It’s not where near how much I used to be able to eat, but I sometimes feel worried that I could eat so much more now compare to just 3oz. I think I could eat about 6-8 oz if I really want to. I need to eat denser food to feel full. I could drink a full bowl of Soup and still don’t feel full. So I eat a lot of meat.

I work out about 3 hours a week. I think more though. On the days I work out, I do consistently feel that I want to eat more.

Went out to a Michelin star Peruvian place this weekend and here’s what we ordered:

IMG_0672.thumb.jpeg.22f6b0d85178e4200ecdd7e0a8f9bd77.jpeg

Red snapper ceviche, truffle ponzu, chives served on rice crackers. This was PHENOMENAL.

Tiger prawn gyozas with pea cream and edamame.

Spicy beef fillet (medium) with crispy shallots.

Crispy cauliflower, chipotle mayo, chives and sesame seeds.

IMG_0690.thumb.jpeg.19df7dd9a023db22d74d01cf3fa045a0.jpeg

Tres Leches (three milk cake), vanilla ice cream and salted dulce de leche. I only had 3 small bites of this as it was too sweet but good albeit.

But over all the food was 10/10!

I’ve been shopping at Trader Joe’s lately and absolutely love their salad. One package of it will give me about 3-4 meals. I like to add chicken, shrimps or beef with it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
