How long did it take you all to tolerate bread? I’m 2.5 months post vsg and really struggle to tolerate most breads and especially wraps

Around the 4th month. I started with small toasts types to dip in hummus. Some breads are easier to eat than others. For example, sourdough is very easy for me versus other types. Maybe cause it's fermented. As @Arabesque said, it does fill you up fast though & can give you a heavy feeling.

Thanks all for the advice on breads! I tried a cracker and gouda cheese at the weekend and that went down ok so assume melba toast would be ok. I tried a wrap last week and it was not pleasant at all, and couldnt keep it down.

I’m 4yrs out from VSG to RNY and I still find that most bread and flour tortillas sit really heavy. I have better luck with crackers, corn tortillas and toast.

Finally starting to feel “normal” again with food prep and meals after being in a funk the past few months.

Went to a conference a couple weeks ago and this was the lunch. The salmon was good. The rice and Soup? Not so much. And I didn’t even grab dessert. 😂

Glad you’re feeling more yourself @Starwarsandcupcakes. You’ve been through a lot the last few months and recovery is just not the healing of physical scars. Looking forward to seeing your meal prep pxts again.

Made refrigerator pickles, dried strawberries, dehydrated bbq zucchini chips, split pea Soup, and pikliz (a Haitian pickled slaw) this week. But since I didn’t have lime juice or habanero peppers I used lemon juice and Sriracha instead. It’s pretty tasty and I can’t wait to have more with fish stew on Friday. (I’m currently reading a book by a Haitian author and the way she mentions fish stew made my mouth water!) Only ate half the dinner roll but all the soup and half the pikliz.

I actually finished the book today and I hope she writes a sequel! It’s “Devil of the Deep” by Falencia Jean-Francois She’s a smaller Indy writer so she doesn’t have many books out yet. I immediately started “The Devil Wears Scrubs” by Freida McFadden afterwards. Which brings me to reading books 49 and 50 so far this year.

As for the fish stew, the snapper is currently marinating and smells amazing. If you aren’t a garlic fan though it’s probably not for you.

Fish stew, pikliz, and brown sugar milk tea boba. I threw in more epis, tomatoes, and celery into the stew along with onions and peppers when I cooked it. Served over jasmine rice.

Also, I’ve somehow convinced myself that Soup is just a liquid salad.

I used it a lot. When I get cheap produce I dehydrate a lot into work and school Snacks. I also use it to make wraps, fruit leather, and beef Jerky.

6 yrs out next month and there are still days that i forget to eat. case in point: TODAY.

i went on a bit of an exercise binge today: 5km early morning run, followed by 2 back-to-back 1 hr each (power) hot yoga classes, then a last-minute decision to go to a pilates class (cuz i had a free pass expiring tomorrow), and finally an approx 10k round trip (leisurely) bike ride to and from the bike shop to get our bikes serviced (i hate biking btw, so this was sorta a big deal lol...i complained the whole way)

...and by the time we got home it was like past 4pm and i realized i didn't eat all day! and i didn't even feel hungry. now...how i was able to do all that on an empty stomach and not keel over, i'll never know.

anyways...here is what i fixed for myself to eat for my first meal of day at 4:30pm:

rice, burnt bacon (oopsies, got distracted!), 2 med-boiled eggs, and a couple tablespoons of this homemade ginger-green-onion condiment that i make that Mr. and The Kid LOVE and eat by the tubful lol.

394 calories for the entire thing. ate it ALL. (guess i was hungry after all! ha!)

not sure i'll be able to eat my normal 2300+ cals a day today since its so late already, but im not worried, it all evens out in the end (plus i had a pretty big dinner last night, so there's that.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
