Tonight's dinner...a little bit of something from everyone's Japanese take out order!

clockwise from top:

- sushi rice with bbq eel & unagi sauce & Japanese omelette
- chicken karate with spicy sauce
- 1 takoyaki (octopus fritter)

estimating 350 cals for the plate, i ate it all!

i also had an espresso martini (not shown) - 141 cals - beforehand!

oh, and one marzipan confection (shown below, isn't it adorable?!?!?) - 133 cals - afterwards!

so...for those keeping track, that adds up to 624 calories total :)

20240811_190308.thumb.jpg.995ab943ddae373877195a8983507004.jpgI have been so addicted to these cucumber sandwiches! I use Sola bread (low-calorie bread), spread one serving of jalapeño cream cheese, and then layer it with sliced cucumber (I soak the slices in lemon juice, salt, and pepper to store in the fridge for whenever I want a sandwich). I also add sliced red onion, sprinkle it with black pepper, and finish it off with zero-calorie everything bagel spice. I always finish it. It's crazy good and I've never been into cucumber sandwiches at all lol. Less than 200 calories and pretty filling. I hope you're all doing good.

Not sure why my images haven't been working from my app so I hope you guys could see the picture but it is just a sandwich lol. I had to use the browser on my phone instead of my app, I hope it works.

Thanks! Now I have another sandwich I want to try. Do you like the Sola bread? Is it a seeded rye vibe or multi grain?

I really like the Sola bread. I haven't tried the multi grain though. My current favorite is the Seeded one. The Sweet oat one was my previous favorite. :D I hope you enjoy it as much as me. It's a very nice refreshing sandwich during the summer!

For me it was about 4-5 months and even then I didn’t eat it often. Give yourself some time to adjust.

I could eat the slices of baked bread, we call it Melba toast at about 6 weeks. It is so crisp and thin it melts away. I tried supermarket white bread and a wrap but I was violently ill with the foamies. It just clumps to a ball of mush in your stomach. At 18 months I found I could eat quality super seeded bread without a problem. At about 150 calories a slice and 5gms of Protein, it works for me once a week in a packed lunch

Try thin toast from quality bread

Around the 4th month. I started with small toasts types to dip in hummus. Some breads are easier to eat than others. For example, sourdough is very easy for me versus other types. Maybe cause it's fermented. As @Arabesque said, it does fill you up fast though & can give you a heavy feeling.

Thanks all for the advice on breads! I tried a cracker and gouda cheese at the weekend and that went down ok so assume melba toast would be ok. I tried a wrap last week and it was not pleasant at all, and couldnt keep it down.

I’m 4yrs out from VSG to RNY and I still find that most bread and flour tortillas sit really heavy. I have better luck with crackers, corn tortillas and toast.

Finally starting to feel “normal” again with food prep and meals after being in a funk the past few months.

Went to a conference a couple weeks ago and this was the lunch. The salmon was good. The rice and Soup? Not so much. And I didn’t even grab dessert. 😂

Glad you’re feeling more yourself @Starwarsandcupcakes. You’ve been through a lot the last few months and recovery is just not the healing of physical scars. Looking forward to seeing your meal prep pxts again.
