lunch today was colourful.

White fish and shrimp ceviche that was really spicy due to the fresh jalapeños (sooo good). Mexican rice and a strawberry gem lettuce salad with roasted almonds and goat cheese.

I only ate a few spoonfuls of ceviche. Then a couple of hours later had a small bowl of salad.

So very jealous that you can eat chillies, I get really bad acid attacks when ever I retry them. I used to love the heat

To me spice is really essential, I can’t have mild food unfortunately but luckily no acidity so far ♥️

Made the fam Çilbir which is a turkish egg dish with a tangy and garlicky greek yogurt base, topped with poached eggs and drizzled with a hot spicy olive oil and butter mix. I love this dish but didn’t have any. I might have some for dinner. With a side of toasted sourdough.

Made 130g air fried octopus calamari. Consisted of instant pot cooked octopus, rolled in breading: nutritional yeast, potato starch, soy sauce, olive oil, and fiesta spice. Total calories: 226 calories. I ate about 3/4 of it. 20240710_153832.jpg 20240710_154814.jpg

Ooh, I enjoy crumbed calamari @Tomo. (Can’t see your pxts though. ☹️) Have to admit I buy it pre prepared & then air fry it. Only have it rarely as it’s processed & is impregnated with far more oil than I like.

Aww wonder why it isn't showing. Thank you for letting me know. Yes, same and I always air fry everything too. Favorite kitchen appliance hehe. But the batter of this was so easy so I had to try it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
