That’s it. We can’t be friends now. 🤣🤣🤣. Maybe it’s the jar olives we get here - always wizened up & dry & have an awful non olive taste.

Your delicious looking chia parfait reminds me I haven’t made one in a while. Mmmm. I’ll add it to the list. Still haven’t made pickled cucumbers yet.

I used to get fresh but never finished them quickly enough and this was before WLS. I wonder if it would be different now.

dinner (and post pilates meal):

Crispy maple glazed salmon, garlic green Beans, egg fried rice and a steamed seafood gyoza, with ponzu sauce on the side. Ate it all. Around 250 calories.

Blueberry vanilla (Semi scratch made) Protein waffle.

With the added yogurt and blueberries it was a little tart but still good.
I think pre WLS I would eat 2 of these, or 1 with sides but I can’t remember anymore. I think the biggest change is that I prioritize protein in meals now and pre WLS I didn’t even think about it.

How does everyone feel about breakfast? Skip or no? What about “breakfast foods”?

Yes to Breakfast. Have it around 9am. Any earlier it doesn’t sit as well & I don’t eat as much which means I get hungry again sooner.

Pretty narrow on breakfast foods. Oats with seeds, dried cranberries, blueberries, yoghurt & milk every day. Eat the leftovers as an afternoon snack. Used to eat scrambled eggs as well until last year when my tummy decided it didn’t like eggs in any form any more. Probably time to try them again. If out will have a granola or muesli when I used to have eggs. Not into the pancakes, waffles, etc. American style breakfast foods though your waffles look great @GreenTealael. And dare I say it … never really liked bacon.

NON breakfast-eater here...never was. on the VERY RARE occasion i may eat something before noon (like if im specifically out for a brunch, or on vacation, or unnaturally hungry), but normally my first meal of the day is around 1 or 2 pm.

i find that if i eat something earlier in the day, i get tired in the afternoon. also i find that i tend to eat more overall throughout the day if i have breakfasts. am also not especially hungry in the mornings anyway.

I was never a Breakfast eater and I've always done Intermittent Fasting and never ate my first meal before 12 PM (mind you I wake up at 5:30 AM). But since my VSG I get really hungry in the mornings, I have an oat milk coffee and wait to eat at 10/10.30 AM. My last meal of the day is at 6 PM so it explains the hunger especially with the tiny portions.

lunch: yep, another salad! all the usual suspects/ingredients, with the addition of avocado, some leftover steak and a chopped up Popeye's drumstick.

enjoyed the salad out on my porch earlier this afternoon cuz it was so nice out! ❤️❤️

683 calories for the entire thing, ate the leftovers from the pic just now!

i also ate an additional popeyes chicken thigh with hot sauce, 2 snack yogurts, homemade guac with homemade naan chips, 2 espresso martinis, some chicharron, a small cube of bacon-brownie i made yesterday, and a handful of pistachios. which has me at 2128 calories so far today.

i still may eat some chips/popcorn while i watch Bridgerton S03 tonite tho!! so calorie count for today still pending.

my porch salad:

Snack:

I don’t usually snack but I barely had lunch and was ravenous. A mini slice of multigrain sourdough, smashed avocado, spicy pickled onions, crumbled feta cheese and red pepper flakes. Ate most of it, it’s quite fascinating how much more I can eat when there’s minimal Protein in what I’m having. Around 180 calories.

Oh and it’s my first time having regular carb loaded bread post op.

was sooo hungry last night...i dont normally eat past 8pm, but i was hungry, AND i was determined to binge watch Bridgerton season 3, part 1 (spoiler alert: i did lol)

so i fixed myself a plate of leftover thai food and ate it over 3 or so hours:

clockwise from top: thai basil crispy pork belly, chicken massaman curry, deep fried taro tofu with chili oil sauce, coconut rice and a piece of roti.

im totally guessing maybe 600 cals for the plate? imma also gonna guess i ate about 2/3 of it (i didn't like the curry so left most of that alone, and just had a taste of the rice and roti. pretty much ate all of the rest.

p.s. am now waiting impatiently for june 13, when the remaining episodes of Bridgerton are released!!! i love me a period show.

lunch: deep fried tofu and taro with chilli sauce.

estimated 300 cals for the plate, ate about ½ cuz i added too much (and consequently ATE) too much sauce and started to feel greasy inside so i stopped where i stopped.

THEN, i fixed myself a little teacup of homemade guac and naan chips...and ate all of it. 310 cals for that.

The naan chips look really good, do you make them or buy them ready made?

Made a fun summer salad

Italian salad mix, cucumbers , olives, sliced beets, clementine wedges, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and a whole nice ball of creamy burrata. I feel it needed a sprinkle of roasted almonds. Also I made a yummy dressing of aged balsamic, good EVOO, and lemon but had it without the dressing, I love salad without dressing, anyone like me? I ate some with a side of baked sea-bass.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
