Food Before and After Photos

I kept seeing these raw vegan wraps on social media so I broke down and bought the ebook (actually a whole package of digital content). Anyway this is the Amazon link to the actual book.

The amount of prep work (maybe 20ish minutes of mostly chopping veg) that went into this is totally worth it. Most of the “cooking time” is really waiting on cashews to soak and the food dehydrator to do its thing.

It’s called a mushroom fajita wrap. The wrap is a blend of bell peppers, onions, oranges, pineapple, and carrot. Then it has chili lime portobello mushroom slices, a bell pepper mix, and a jalapeño lime cashew crema that is amazing! I added romaine because I had it and needed to use it.

I’ve eaten pretty much the same dinner for the last couple nights. A spinach, potato, and asparagus Soup and an asparagus tart (used this recipe for inspiration). Added nutritional yeast to the top of the soup both days as well.

Brunch date. Milk oolong tea (SF) and a Cinnamon roll, probably 1000 cals but I ate one bite before I decided it was a terrible choice (so much sugar) and didn’t eat anymore.

Yum @Starwarsandcupcakes. Just yum. As a lover of asparagus (eat them several times a week) I’m going to look into the Soup & the tart. The tart maybe another opportunity to use Boursin cheese if I’m feeling too lazy to make the custard - lol!

And yes, I’ll gnaw on the snapped off end of the raw asparagus unless it’s too woody.

The way I did the tart was with vegan cream cheese and mixed in the spices. I opted to forgo the pine nuts as I don’t like them and I was the only one eating it.

use the ends for cream soup! boil, puree and strain! add cream and seasonings or whatever and voila!

Amusingly Jamie Oliver posted a joint recipe for asparagus quiche & asparagus Soup yesterday. Started with a kilo of asparagus used the top half of the spears for the quiche & bottom half for the soup too. Obviously is asparagus season.

had some leftover roasted chicken and pork belly. not enough for a meal for the "regulars", so i fried em up all crispy to use as salad toppings:

...which leads me to:

this fine looking salad i prepared for lunch. greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, feta cheese, broccoli, mushrooms and the fried up leftover Protein from earlier.

logged as 503 calories for the whole thing.

i ate...nothing (yet).

as often happens, the excitement of eating and prep has waned by the time i was done, and now i no longer feel like eating it. i'll want it later fo sure tho! so for now it will wait for me patiently in the fridge :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
