Second the plunging your eggs in cold Water after boiling them as @Starwarsandcupcakes suggested. Plus I believe tap the egg of the counter bottom side down (just one sharp tap) will break the membrane & allow you to peel the shell off more easily. I used to roll the egg to sort off shatter the shell then peel it off. The fresher the eggs to the easier they are to shell.

So you could add those spices to your coffee or whatever at anytime @Starwarsandcupcakes? So why is pumpkin spice just an Autumn thing? We’re not pumpkin pie eaters in Australia. Pumpkin fruit cake, pumpkin scones, and of course mashed, roasted, in salads, … all good, all year round here.

Egg salad! It’s been awhile since I’ve had it.

Lol. Same wavelength again! I have been eating a lot of egg salad made in Greek yogurt this past month. 20230901_190937.jpg

I steam my eggs for 20 minutes, then peel them under running cold Water after I smack them on the side of the sink, and they come out good.

I feel like there’s a trick to remove the shells easily. Does anyone know?

I used to put the eggs in cold Water and heat just until the water boiled, removed from the heat for 8 minutes then into an ice bath. Tore up the whites every time.

Recently I've started boiling the water first then adding the eggs one at a time with a spoon to the boiling water & letting them go for 8 minutes, then dropping them in an ice bath.

Perfect every time now with no massacre of the whites at all.

Edit; I just made a batch an hour ago and taking the pot from the stove to the sink, bumped my elbow on the corner of the microwave (it's between the stove and the sink) and splashed some just shy of boiling water on my leg just above my knee. Fun times! Put some cold compresses on it right away - thank you already prepped ice bath - so hopefully I'll live to see the morning.

On the upside, after I pulled them out of the ice bath, I peeled a couple of the eggs and they're perfect.

Perfect timing - I made hard boiled eggs tonight and used the bring to boil, put in eggs then ice bath method. The correct way is to do them is like a ford vs chevy debate but to each his own. Anyone tried baking them in a muffin tin? Might try that one.

I took my hard boiled eggs an extra step and after peeling them I put them on the smoker for about 30 minutes about 200* using some pecan wood from our old farm. They are delicious! Tomorrow might try and turn them into deviled eggs but egg salad with the smoke flavor might be good!

If I had a smoker, I'd be all over trying that. I haven't heard of baking them until I read this, but I have tried hard boiling eggs in the microwave.

It is absolutely possible to do without them exploding; cover 3-4 eggs with Water in a microwave safe dish and -the critical component- add a couple of teaspoons of salt to the water; about 1/2 tsp per egg. Run the microwave on high for 4 minutes, let them sit for a minute, then zap them for another 4 minutes, then immediately get them into an ice bath for a few minutes.

All of that said, I don't recommend it. Ultimately the eggs do get hard boiled, but the egg white massacre is truly horrific. I ended up having to cut the eggs in half - while still in the shells - and scooping the egg out with a spoon as successfully peeling them was absolutely impossible.

I love my Instant pot for easy peel eggs using the 5-5-5 method. I make a dozen at a time.

Made chicken pie with my younger nieces & nephew last night & was all hands on deck for the dicing, slicing & stirring. Even the 5 almost 6yr old was dicing celery. Made a huge pie. That’s a regular Soup spoon as a size comparison. Only thing was the poaching liquid didn’t thicken enough despite having to add more flour (ended up doubling what the recipe said). Was tasty. They all cleaned their plates & I have 4 more meals in my freezer with the leftovers. Forgot to take a pxt of it served out.

Not a clue, I drink it year round but I’m an odd duck. Made Soup yesterday and it was 90f/32c outside. 😂 🤷‍♀️

Demi-baguettes, cranberry walnut bread, Soup 😍 and meatball subs on the Demi-baguettes with salad. I did not take an after picture of the meatball sub dinner but failed to eat most of the salad and only most of the sub.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
