Food Before and After Photos

I have some hospital meals to post as well. They couldn't really do vegan (well, if you like starving it would have been possible I guess) but vegetarian minus the lactose was possible and I felt well fed.

I like this thread for two reasons. 1. It gives me ideas. 2. I get to see (and sometimes be envious of) all of the food people in other countries have and eat. [emoji846]

My lovely meals from the past few days! 🙃 Transient ischemic bowelh (or that’s what they told me) so I won myself a 3 1/2 day hospital stay with 2 being npo.

How terrible @Starwarsandcupcakes. Hope they discovered the cause & you are feeling better.

Why were you in hospital @summerset?

Why does hospital food always looks so brown/beige & unappetising? Though some of yours looks more colourful & appetising @summerset.

Airfried plantains with pink Himalayan salt, and then I serve it with lime juice. 150 calories. 20230312_004828.jpg

chicken salad with avocado before & after

I couldn’t finish it but I also couldn’t leave half an avocado to brown. I bought a bag of avocados because the family wanted it but surprise surprise no one wants them 😤

Nope, was pretty much told that whatever it was fixed itself and that since I could keep down foods I could go home. So who knows. 🤷‍♀️

A scratch made blueberry cheesecake pop tart during a recent trip. It looked great but unfortunately I didn’t sample it because I didn’t want the consequences, but it gave me ideas for making my own low sugar version one day.

Also, dinner last night- spinach gnocchi with roasted onion and zucchini tossed in pesto. I packed the leftovers for lunch.

It was a 'hungry' night so I made Hot and sour Soup made with wide konjac noodles (the packets had chili oil, seasoning pack, soy sauce, black vinegar, roasted peas = 169 cal), and I added napa cabbage, Chinese broccoli, 1 boiled marinated egg. Total of 267 calories, 11.3 carbs. 20230320_194858.jpg 1679436174517_188732339013107.jpg

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
