Like prepared salad box but with a homemade dressing. Or the meal pictured above? I can't be the only time pressed and/or lazy cook. What are your favorites? I’m totally a lazy cook with brief moments of inspiration but not much since early last year. My favorites are : 1. Morningstar farms meatless products for my “vegetarian” BF (really he’s just a pizzatarian😂). 2. Kirkwood (red bag) chicken fillets found in Aldi. I can eat just these with a salad but *feel* like I cooked. 3 ms.sss, summerset and MarvelGirl25 reacted to this
ms.sss 15,726 Posted March 2, 2021 (edited) Saw this made on an episode of Masterchef and just needed to make it. I had a couple tablespoons and *I* liked it, but fam was not that enthusiastic about it. Asked if it should go into rotation and they were all, nah 🙄. I tried. I think it LOOKS good though...will be making a ragu out of it for tomorrow. Geez. Arabesque 7,442 Posted March 2, 2021 My nieces made this for me once but they put coconut cream in it. (They put coconut cream or coconut milk in everything for a while for its ‘health’ benefits ... till their skin broke out quite terribly & they put on weight.) I found it far too rich & couldn’t eat it. They love it. 1 2 GreenTealael, ms.sss and Starwarsandcupcakes reacted to this

Looking forward to the first self-made vegan protein-pizza since several weeks after my exam took place. Atm, one of my staples has become bulgur salad with skyr and maybe a pita - depends on mood. Another staple is microwaved potatoes and/or vegetables with skyr for Protein. Ate too much protein bread-y baked goods with vegan fake stuff on it lately. I feel like I won't be able to even look at it within a few more days, lol. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this

I theorize it may not have been thick enough, or was too tomato-y (i went off-recipe and added sundried tomatoes) or my bread sucked. In any case, I'll try my hand at it again someday. ...mabye in Tel Aviv! ( @OAGBPal lol) @GreenTealael have you made it before? Any tips?????

I have not made it but the last time I ate it the spices I could detach were distinctly leaning toward the Italian side (which most people would expect from a Tomato gravy) so not traditional but it worked 1 ms.sss reacted to this
ms.sss 15,726 Posted March 2, 2021 Ok. PSA for all food Porn lovers, and Vacation porn lovers, and Stanley Tucci lovers (but NOT Stanley Tucci Porn lovers though, lol) Do yourselves a solid and watch the CNN series Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy. Who doesn't love Italy, Italian Food, and did I mention STANLEY TUCCI. I love this guy. I don't know what's going on with me, I love cabbage at the moment. Pointed cabbage, white cabbage ... I think it's because it really goes down nicely in far greater volume than anything else, and just a lil' oil and lemon and salt and it's basically a meal all on its own. Looks like something from a dumpster, though, so I won't make my debut in this thread ... yet. 😂 I also eat endless cabbage...and post pics of it 😂 Please don’t let me be the only one 😬 1 ms.sss reacted to this

I have also eaten the frozen Trader Joe’s version, which is delicious. You just add the egg and cheese. Easy and yummy. I am shocked your fam did not like. Maybe try a different recipe?🤷♀️🤷♀️ I do not recall what recipe I used or I would share. 🤦🏼♀️ ps. Based on your pics, I think the version I made had a lot more peppers. I think this was probably (yet another) issue. I only had 1 green pepper and the recipe called for 3 red ones, lol. Wouldn't think it would make a diff! (and i used basil instead of parsley/cilantro for garnish cuz it was all i had). so maybe i didn't make shakshura after all....😂 Edited March 2, 2021 by ms.sss 2 GreenTealael and WishMeSmaller reacted to this

I do have fantasies of opening up a little cafe or bakery or something...but then I think of all the work involved, and I'm all Nah. I would however, consider applying for a PART-TIME-only sous chef position if @MarvelGirl25 would have me so I can learn all HER food secrets! Here are the recipes, its a little time-intensive, though! Bread : Bao:Siopao Dough (Filipino Style).pdf Main : Char Sui.pdf Edited to add: Oh, forgot the dipping sauce for the pork: ¾ cup dashi (or ¾ cup Water + 1 tsp dashi powder) 3 Tbsp soy sauce 2 Tbsp mirin 2 tsp sugar 1 green onion sliced 5 smashed garlic cloves - put in a saucepan, bring to low simmer and serve with the bbq pork. That Char Sui and Bao looks amazinggggggg! You killed it! And you awoken my cravings lol I haven't had Char Sui in years and Bao since right before surgery. I will admit though that I'm not familiar with making the dough for bao. What's the difference between the Chinese style and Filipino? Also, I think we were best friends or even sisters in another life because my dream has also been to own a cafe with a focus on Latin American pastries and lunch (roast meat sandwiches, empanadas, etc) But you're right, its a ton of work. Both my uncle and cousin own their own restaurants and they practically live there. Maybe one day when we are both up for it we can co-own! 2 1 ms.sss, WishMeSmaller and GreenTealael reacted to this
