Amazing view! Which mountain?

Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey, NH. Had hoped for an even nicer view, but weather conspired to keep it very cloudy in the morning and the summit was smack dab in the middle of the low-lying clouds. Last time I'd been up there was 26 years ago. I did not remember it being quite that much of a trek back then. My legs are still sore as heck.

Up and down was a total of 2200 calories burned. And yet, I managed to gain 2.8lbs on this morning's weekly weigh in. Color me less than happy about that. First weight gain since February. Here's hoping things start moving in the right direction for next week!

Cold weather calls for comfort food so I made Aji Panca chicken stew. Ate 4 ounces of chicken and less than 3 ounces of potatoes.

There's some literature out there that explains why people see a bump in weight after heavy workouts. No need to worry ❤️

Ok this isn’t something I ate so it doesn’t really apply but I just thought it was a funny picture. Me and one of my kids made these from crushed flaming hot Cheetos and mozzarella sticks. I hate those things (flaming hot Cheetos) but I had a little nibble and I gotta admit it wasn’t bad. Ranch and Frank’s Redhot on the side. Sorry if this triggers anyone it was just for fun.

Yet another bowl of random stuff from the fridge:

Butter sautéed cremini mushrooms seasoned with garlic salt/pepper/smoked paprika, with diced tomatoes, topped with 1 slice of bacon bits, shaved Parmesan and fresh cilantro (preceded with a coffee martini, not shown): 268 calories.

This concoction turned out to be like my favourite thing i’ve eaten in a couple weeks! Sooooo yum...ate it all.

Needed to use up some ingredients, so here's a mix of sweet corn, mixed canned Beans, red bell pepper, mock ground meat, , red onion, Tomato sauce, red curry powder and coconut milk.

I had burger tonight again (also leftovers Buns that had to go, freezer is full right now), so this is lunch for tomorrow and most likely dinner as well as I have some mock salami and vegan spread that has to go. One can't really stock up on perishables and not everything freezes well.

Awful look, awesome taste:

This was tonight’s dinner. They are bacon wrapped chicken breasts stuffed with veggies and cheese. I started with half of one and of course couldn’t finish. It was so good though.

okay when y'all say that these serving are "all you can eat" does that mean you couldn't eat anymore? Or, is it just all you eat before feeling satisfied.

Sometimes it's both.

I've seen a lot of post where people will experience eating too much or too fast and have an adverse reaction to it (discomfort, vomiting, gas, etc)

So most programs advise us to eat very slowly learning when to stop instead of trying to fit it the "last bite"

Other times it's learning that just because you can eat more of something doesn't mean you have to especially early on when food is measured out (if that's what your plan dictates) or years out when trying to maintain a caloric balance to remain in maintenance (no losses or gains)

Breakfast and lunch this week has been tofu scramble with veggies. I’ll usually eat about the amount shown in the pic and the rest for lunch. My go to when I’m still hungry is a fruit bowl. Like salad, fruit is definitely a slider food for me. I can easily finish the whole thing without a problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
