Soooo instead of dinner and a movie... Will play dinner and a balloon! Dinner tonight was picadillo basically a cuban stew, and a salad. I ate half portion of each. The balloon close-ups are simply amazing. But even more compelling, I had hired the balloon master for a dinner party five years previous to 2018. He was always very heavy set. He arrived at this party much slimmer. When I walked him out to his car after the event - I commented on how great he looked moving so much easier at his art. He told me he had lost 90 pounds and counting after gastric sleeve surgery. I just grinned and said, you won't believe this but I am scheduled for that same surgery in two weeks! Turns out we also enlisted the same surgeon in Boca Raton! He was such an encouragement (a true Christmas gift) as I had never met anyone who made that journey nor struggled with morbid obesity.

@Cheeseburgh Your hubby's birthday meal looks lovely, the candle is hilarious!! :D haha, shame about the banana bread, the gooey-ness of the bananas probably weighed down the delicate GF flour quite a lot, not sure what you used, or if you have tried this... but I find 50% Almond flour 50% GF flour a better combination for banana bread when doing GF.

Normally I don’t bake, if I get anything gluten free I buy it. He doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth. I used. Namaste baking blend from costco. My son blended it with a hand blender and I didn’t worry about it getting tough because there is no gluten. It got tough!

Have you ever planned a really nice dinner, spent a lot of time and effort and even ordered/bought new Ingredients just to make that dinner, and it turns out fine, but not worth it?

I made Rick Bayless‘ Pastor recipe tonight, I think my fatal mistake was using pork loin vs shoulder. It looked so good, but honestly I prefer his Frontera Grill prepackaged marinades. They taste better and they are way easier!

Yikes! Does it/did it require surgery? Or do you have to pass it yourself?

No surgery thank god but I did pass it when I went home! It was my first stone and hopefully my last! I never want to experience that pain again 😩

WOW... ESP!!!! I told hubs just last night while eating at a local Tex Mex place (and, they did not offer cornbread on the menu) - that I was dying for some good old fashion skillet corn bread! And, here we are. GO CARBS! Love a good hush puppy with corn and jalapeño, too! Hint hint. ;]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
