Of course I remember Miami Vice! I never watched it but it was so popular everyone knew about it. I think we are about the same age.

What a cool job @Sophie7713

Oh Cheeseburgh, Miami was a brilliant and vibrant city to live + work as a young designer! A lot of up and coming talent on the scene... Loved it. My sorority sister from U of Miami dated Don Johnson briefly when he was separated on and off from Melanie Griffith. But before fame - the real heart throb was Andy Garcia, a senior when I was a freshman at FIU. On the weekends, all us girls would hit Coconut Grove to hear our favorite band - The Miami Sound Machine featuring unknown Gloria Estefan, at that time. Fun. I still crank up her greatest hits for dancing! ;]

Vegan gyros with shiitake and red onions with soy skyr dip and rucola cress. Part of ciabatta roll. Just the right thing after a semi-awful 24 h shift.

Looks like chicken...

24hr shift! That's absolutely crazy

The older hospital doctors even know 36 h shifts. Granted, evenings, nights and weekends weren't as busy in their days as they are today.

Got about 3.5 h of sleep this time and that's not that bad. Anyway, the hospitals know how to stretch the law in their favor. Some more months of this before going into on-call only again in January. I'm too old for this sh*t.

I think I have frozen grapes at least 3 times a week. The seedless black grapes are my favorite. costco was out of them last week and I had withdrawals. They did have cherries though!

How fun and it sounds glamorous! It made me laugh when I think of my celebrity encounter about the same timeframe since it was the polar opposite!

I went to UW (Madison), I was at a house party and an older guy sat down next to me and we started chatting. He seemed annoyed with me because I wasn’t interested in talking to him. Finally he said, don’t you know who I am? I replied no. He introduced himself as Tom Wopat, I still had no clue. Then he said he was on The tv show Dukes of Hazzard. I just laughed and said sorry I don’t watch that show and left (I’m sure I was tipsy). That was true, but if the blond guy had been at that party I would have recognized him, he was the cute one.

I didn’t watch either show but Miami Vice vs. Dukes of Hazzard is an easy call!

Ok, going off on a tangent from food here, but I have to share my one and only celebrity encounter myself. 10 years ago, we got to meet Alicia Keyes backstage when she was in town for a concert. The Kid was sooooo upset she didnt get to go to the concert (she was 5!) because her fave song at the time was "No One", so she basically had a meltdown when she found out we met her AND had a picture with her....so I photo-shopped her into it, lol. Over the years, I think she convinced herself she was actually there now. 🤣

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
