More "other" food

It has become apparent that I cook entirely different meals for me vs my fam & friends. I kinda swore I wouldn't and everyone would just eat what I ate, but it stopped working that way when no one wanted salad... Again 😂

Small potato, sauteed broccoli normandy, pan fried tilapia

My burger on a matzah with salad and beets

P.S. It's always beets 😂

OMG! Not only is she beautiful - she can cook, too! This looks delish and I'm not even a fish girl - although I have heard Tilapia has less of a fishy taste and smell?

dinner last night and lunch today. Raw cauliflower, broccoli, red grapes, cheddar cheese, chicken, red onions + slivered almonds tossed in light dijon mustard vinaigrette. Best the next day after marinating... Serving dish for hubby and myself. Forgot to show my serving size probably 1 ½ cups, and the after dish. New to this thread. Soooo, I'll get with the program. LOL.

Quickyquick meal: Uncle Ben's microwave rice with a Japanese spice mix ("Furikake") on top and Alnatura's lentil burgers out of the oven. Couldn't eat it all. Rice is way too filling for me.

That Soup looks fantastic, I need to find a good recipe, feel free to share!

No picture of tonight’s dinner because I forgot to take a picture. We had burgers and oven fries.

*Heads up when ordering Instacart. They have to substitute a lot of items right now which is understandable. I ordered burger patties from costco which were sold out and replaced with a different box of burger patties. I was planning dinner and plugging the numbers into MFP... lo and behold one patty is 330 calories! No bun, no cheese just the meat and It wasn’t even that big. I had half a burger, since 330 is a lot for me considering I’m maintaining on 1300 a day, plus I REALLY wanted oven fries!

It was a very good burger, fat=flavor is true with burgers.

Anyway, be ready for substitutions!

Ohhhhhh thanks ! I'm a fish person (only certain kinds-kosher) but I think tilapia is milder than other white fleshed fish and definitely less aromatic than other bright fleshed types.

(It's is not favorite because I do prefer fishy fish LOL but is a very soft entry into fish for someone wanting to try fish)

I haven't tried jackfruit yet, how does the flavor and texture compare to other meat alternatives?

Dried jackfruit is lightly sweet. So when dried it's not really meat substitute.

Oh I understand.

Have you tried pulled/shredded jackfruit (I think its a sub for pulled meat/BBQ)?

The Asian grocery store has canned jackfruit but I don't know if that is canned in sweet Syrup or in brine. I have to take a look next time I shop there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
