Sashimi for lunch with a side salad 🥗 Finished the salad and the bf helped me finish the sashimi. I was only able to eat 4 pieces.

K, so when @GreenTealael mentioned her eating window to be 20-30 mins, I wanted to see what I could get in in 20 minutes.

So here is today's first meal (and it's progress...)

Salad greens w/ vinaigrette + carrots + pickled beets + 3 oz roast pork + 1 tbsp crunchy garlic chili oil + the insides of the Kid's half eaten curry chicken wrap (1.5 oz grilled chicken, mayo, celery, spices, cheddar cheese)

271 cals - 31g Protein - 15g NET carbs - 13g fat

Ate it all (eventually), except for the big chunk of cheese that I found unappetizing...

Wow! That's an amazing difference! So in 20 minutes, were you full? Do you chew a ton? Tell me your ways! (I honestly could have finished your bowl in 20 minutes...just sayin')

Inquiring minds want to know. I'm also done by 20 minutes if not sooner.

Of all the things I thought I never would eat, like raisins, prunes, chicken or strange types of salads (like KALE🤢), I bought some spinach today. And to my suprise, I acutally eat it. Used the leaf to wrap around some cheese among other things. Also made a salad.

I ❤ Kale

That looks beautiful!!! What a healthy lunch!

But, am I the only one who kinda feels sad in commiseration with Mr. Wasabi there? He look soooo sad!

LOL, Ok, so at the 20 min mark, I was taking a break, and I guess I was full, in the sense that I knew that if I took another bite at that time I would likely have hurled. BUT I wait for that full feeling to go away and if/when it does, AND if I want more, I'll eat more. I probably could have stopped and put the food away right there and been fine to eat again in a couple hours, but I wanted more, so I kept eating.

I don't know if I "chew a ton", I stopped counting chews a looooooong time ago. I think I naturally just don't wolf down stuff because I've been conditioned (i.e., the aforementioned hurling).

Finally, I have to be honest, I probably should not have eaten all that I did because I can feel a slightly tighter than comfortable feeling in my chest. I think I had the "look-ma-I-cleared-my-plate" attitude when I was anticipating taking an After picture. I probably should have stopped at 3/4 done...

Ok, ty for sharing! So how long does it usually take for the full feeling to go away? I honestly think it's time for me to work on bite timing again. I can see myself slipping back into bad habits of eating too large a bite, chewing too little, eating too quickly. And it may be time to start sitting at the table again rather than at my desk. :D

I'm still serving myself the same portion sizes I'm used to, so I don't have the option of eating more. And this is the same amount I've been having since 1 year out. But some days I do notice I have more resistance. Like that salad wrap was the same size as would be in my salad bowl. The wrap makes 2 meals btw...but for some reason, I'm VERY full from it and have some chest pressure. But no nausea, thankfully!

Does it matter if you eat your meat first or veggies/salad first? How much volume do you think it was? Hard to tell if that's a Jethro size bowl or a small side salad bowl. :D

I still eat big bites and chew not like I should. Just portion my meals for the most part and I’m usually quite stuffed after about 5 bites. Ha!

Ok, so you still have big restriction and only eat small amounts? I also thought you were saying you could eat and finish that bowl of salad? :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
