Curious - why does everyone seem to make bigger/normal portions only to eat 1/3 or less? I can't imagine than an omelette reheats all that well?

Hahaha..... I am guilty of this. My own personal excuse is that I actually believe I can eat what I had prepared for myself, at the time of making it. I often feel like I am much hungrier than I actually am (which is part of why I eat slowly, so that I don't accidentally cross the too-full line before I its too late).

P.S. though there are definitely times I can polish off one of my ginormous salads.

P.P.S I have also long ago gotten used to eating cold or room-temp food.

IDK about anyone else but

I literally cannot cook small. I grew up in a very large family , learned to cater events, special gatherings with ease... so its second nature. Either I cook large and save the rest for later or don't cook at all and eat a salad😬

This particular omelette was a small prep for me only 2 eggs. Also I planned for this to be my main food for the day & It reheats amazingly 💙

Note: if you’re wondering why the two different plates, the first one leaked through

I didn't even notice!

I mean, I did it last night myself haha. I made something like 16 mini meatballs where 6 is a serving and was 3oz and that was all I could finish 1 month post-op.

I still need to learn to eat slower and get used to cold or room temp food.

I can relate to this! There's no such thing as cooking small in my family. There are a lot of us and everyone eats a lot.

Oh, and that omelette looked delicious!

You'll get there! I get all of my nutritional needs from food now so its quite different from early in the journey. But this was basically my food for the day with an add on or two 😂

Don't look forward to this day. It will happen whether you want it or not. Embrace the restriction. Focus instead on eating the smallest amount you can eat to get your nutrition in for that meal. Weigh and measure everything and don't exceed your volume prescription for the amount of time and stage from surgery. At 1 month, you should still be at about 1/4 cup. No way would I try to eat 3oz of Protein (even meatballs at 4weeks). I have a large pouch, but at 4 weeks I was 1-2oz of protein per meal and that was about it--maybe a bite of veg or a slider like grape tomato/avocado.

I make exactly what my volume is for being 20+ months out. I can eat 1 1/4 to 1 1/2c of food per meal. Sometimes I go overboard with salads but not often. When I do, I wait and use it for the next meal as a snack. It's the only way to keep myself from getting to the point where I can eat as much as I did pre-surgery.

I had a sleeve, not bypass and at this point I'm pretty sure it was within expectations that I be able to eat 3-4 oz in a meal. Don't make me freak out and think I'm stretching my sleeve!

That is not my intention (to make you freak out).

And actually I know more sleeves with greater restriction than RNYers. I'm just saying to follow your doc's plan for volume and try not to look forward to eating more. Embrace eating less. It helps reframe your relationship with food.

I'm under their plan at this point - they're expecting 1200 cals and 100g of carbs a day at this point in my plan.

Actually, Fluffy was concerned about your volume. What volume/meal is your doctor advising? I know I was still only eating a couple of tablespoons of soft foods at a month out. (I had a sleeve at that point, revised to bypass later)
