KCgirl061 1,532 Posted July 24, 2018 Day 2 of 14. One thing I noticed last night was that I wasn't physically hungry. I could recognize that my belly was full and yet I wanted to chew my arm off. I'm really hoping to be able to stick to the preop diet without cheating. I want this to be a lesson in truly listening to my stomach and learning to ignore head hunger. Did this work for others? Curious if anyone was able to get a good handle on head hunger during this preoperative time to where stomach hunger was the only thing you had to deal with postop. I see so many people 6 days out complaining they are starving and cant help think its head hunger they are battling.
allwet 868 Posted July 24, 2018 the act of chewing food and the taste sensations cause an actual brain chemistry response. It can be disconcerting when we dont get that and that is a big part of "head hunger". It not really about being full. It mostly goes away as soon as you reach soft food stage. The pre and post op liquid phase can cause you some level of discomfort from this. avoiding food imagery and concentrating on some task to keep your mind focused elsewhere is what worked for me. good luck and grats on getting to this point in the journey
