How about Twoferville, that's my next planned stop after I leave 3-how much did you say-village. I can't afford the emotional rent to stay here when Twoferville beckons. And maybe in a month or 2 post-surgery I can move in!

Thank you, James. Wow. That was a quick response-- and only one hour after I posted my request for help with weight-loss words, acronyms, abbreviations, etc. Woo-hoo.

Thank you for putting the list together. Ty!

@James Marusek. I mistakenly thought your list was in response to my request. I just now noticed, though, that your list has been pinned.

How were you able to have your comment pinned? Do you have administrative powers the rest of us don't? I made the initial request to compile an exhaustive list of terms (that included more than just abbreviations) but, apparently, my request for administrative assistance went unacknowledged. Talk about feeling dismissed. Oh well.:44_frowning2:

I compiled the list over the past several years. Every once and awhile I posted the list. Someone suggested about a year ago that the list should be pinned. You request tripped me to repost the list and I was also able to pin it.

@James. First, an apology. My last comment on this thread was unacceptably whiny and surly, and for that I'm sorry. My response was triggered by a misguided impression that my idea for a weight-loss glossary was being sidestepped as unworthy. I was hurt when I saw your abbreviations list posted --and pinned-- while my project idea for a weight-loss glossary seemed to be unacknowledged and ignored by the administrative staff of this forum. I was being the star of my own pity-party reality show! My behavior was childish and silly. I expect better of myself.

I will continue working on my glossary so that it's more than just an idea. I still run into acronyms, updated vocabulary and new terms (for me, at least) like orthorexia, trocars, Circle of Discontent (COD), twilight sedation, ARFID (formerly SED), surgiversary, and "disordered eating". In the near future, and when I put together something more substantial, I hope to find a way to share it with this community.

P.S. Did you pin your abbreviations list yourself... or was it pinned for you?

I like WN for what now? Also COP for crazy other, poster although that's putting someone down so seldom used. That and WFS for Wrong Forum Stupid usually addressed to woman posting in male only forum like the Guys Room. Strange how we don't,protest, when guys invade ours, probably because we outnumber them. Okay NHNF, no harm, no foul!

I feel like we need one like DOYS - Depends On Your Surgeon. Since there are so many rules and diet differences between them. :)

I wish you success on developing your weight loss glossary. I am sure others on this board will find it useful. I have a pet peeve against abbreviations. They can make communications difficult unless you know their meaning. That is why I developed the list in the first place. I felt there was a need for it. Just like you feel there is a need for a glossary.

As far as how I have the ability to pin, it seems like I have that ability because I have been on this board for over 5 years. Once you put together your glossary, post it and ask Alex Brecher (the owner of the website) if he could pin the glossary. Or if you stick around long enough, perhaps that ability will magically appear.

There are many terms that are specific to weight loss surgery. There are many types of weight loss surgery and the list seems to expand every day. In order for Bariatric Pal to be an effective resource, clarity in communications is extremely important; otherwise many users will be left outside in the dark.

Thank you, James. It seems you lost a lot of weight, but gained it back in humility and kindness.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
