Just like you! No insurance, not much money..am single mom of 3.

Dr. Huacuz is perfect! www huacuz. com Huacuz Surgical Center Did the research, spoke to some of his patients, was only $7,000 for everything...

surgicenter

anesthesiologist

cardiologist consult

psych eval

surgeon fee

hospital stay

even brought 2 friends...free room and board

When selecting a physician, don't sell yourself short just by going w/ someone cheap. You want quality...your life is too important.

So many of us on here and other forums talk about Dr. Huacuz...he's the best.

With the money I saved from 15k, I only paid 7...I went on a cruise for my pre-op. Loved it! Paid tuition for my kids college, paid the rent, etc.

A buck is a buck! And I found some good ones for 10,000...but I'd much rather have the $3,000 in my pocket. That's alot of money.

Do the research, but I'm sure you'll find Dr. Huacuz the best.

Check out my surgeon. Link to his practice is in my signature. There is also an extensive thread on this site where his patients keep in touch, see "Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum." He charges $9950.

Even lower prices can be found with Mexican doctors. Hundreds of people on this site have used Mexican doctors with great results. They usually charge about $8500 last time I checked. You can get a lot of information here on Mexican doctors running searches on this forum.

There are a lot of self payers around here. You are not alone in that regard.

Good luck.

I had my lapband put in at St Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville/ My surgeon was Dr. Olsofka. He charges $4000 for his services and if you are paying out of pocket it gives you lots of extras. post op exam. adjustments the first year and any surgical revision if problems. Remember the operating room and hospital charges are separate. My insurance with Anthem BC/BS paid all of mine. My lapband was placed June 27, 2007. to date I have lost 41 lbs. I hope you have it done. Its the best thing I could have done

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
