Well, I haven't done it yet -- just the first week -- but my doctor's schedule is:

2 weeks -- Clear Liquids

4 weeks -- full/blended liquids

3-1/2 months -- soft foods

After 5 months, THEN I can have solid foods!

Mine is 2 weeks of fluids, 2 weeks of mushies and in the last phase of mushies was told that normal food would be introduced. Just started my second week of fluids. Was told can have thicker fluids in this phase.

Wow, I think you've got Bloo beat. I would go absolutely nuts having to wait 5 months to eat solids. Good Luck!

Mine was:

1 week - clear liquids

2 weeks- full liquids

3 weeks- mushy and soft food

At 6 weeks post-op I started solids

I did 3 weeks of fluids, two of mushies. I found it easy, honestly, I was one of the lucky ones that didnt have bandster hell, I lost tons and tons of weight in that time and didnt miss solid food one bit.

Dont ask me about a pre op diet though, lol. I didnt have to do one but thought I'd try anyway, and I lasted 2 days.

I had two days, clear liquids, a week liquids, 3 weeks mushies. I really didn't have any problem either. The nurse was even shocked that I had stuck to it as religiously as I had. Solids kindof snuck up on me before I knew it!

Yes, it's pretty severe. He's convinced that his patients have fewer problems with adjusting to foods and will lose the majority of their weight during this period.

I realize that there are different views on this subject and people have done fine on faster schedules but I'm going to follow his plan as best I can. I chose him partly for his conservative approach because I'm not in a hurry and would like to have as few complications as possible. I almost got scared off in the beginning reading all of the stories of being too tight, PBing, sliming, getting stuck, etc. I was beginning to think the way the band worked was through aversion therapy! :P

But I realized that perhaps there is an over-representation of the negatives on a message board and both he and the psychologist assured me that this is true. I guess time will tell for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
