I’m day 4 post op and I’m moving up to full liquids as of today...in my paper work it says that I’m aloud grits thin consistency...I made some but I’m afraid to eat them lol my 2 week diet was very strict and the post op diet seems to be moving right along I can even have cream of wheat now if I want what do you guys think? So I just stick to liquids for a few more days or follow the book?

These foods in this stage are mainly to help you learn to tolerate something with a little texture so you can continue to heal and be slightly more satisfied. Only try a spoon at a time and wait in between bites. We all have different tolerance levels. I preferred cream Soups blended thinned with Bone Broth for some Protein.

@Sosewsue61does has the Bone Broth ever given you a sore throat or is it just me? Honestly I don’t like and I’ll be doing some online shopping for some online for Protein shouts and other things

Have you tried the Protein chicken broth powder from Unjury? It's got 21 g of protein per serving and I really like it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
