yep and a moderate stricture of my stoma. That's why she repulsed all the different types of food, she couldn't pass it on to the intestine without a big enough opening. so i have a change of medication and I hope, the next scope shows it has resolved.,That should be donevagaijs Ervin
Oh wow 😮! Is that all since the surgery or did you have ulcers before? Did they open up the stricture during the procedure?

I had one, Hector, showed up during my EGD in December 2017 when my gastroenterologist had me on omeprazole, that's why I was on Dexilent until they stopped it ,at my surgery time.Told them, my bariatric team, omeprazole was not going to be gastric protective, they didn't listen, they like the stuff because you can open the capsules and pour them on your food. Foolish when I am on a liquid Stage 2 diet, I don't eat solids unless you can Do it applesauce. I don't whether I was going to have it or off the endo caused it but now I have laryngitis.
Did Dr Noria get my stricture stretched so I could eat solids? Nope she did as much as she felt she could, but that is one of the reasons I have to have another EGJ within 2 weeks. I knew I had a stricture, I just could tell, the ulce4s, I feel since I was a known ulcer producer, I should have been on Carafate from the beginning. Now I have it 6am Noon 6pm Midnight for 3 months, and instead of removing omeprazole the dosage was doubled. Oh I shall be compliant, but i,have my doubts whether this maneuver is going to work!

I have done a bunch of research into what causes ulcers.

Gastrin is a hormone that is released by eating Protein which causes the parietal cells in the stomach to release acid. Well, can't stop eating protein.

Alcohol and caffeine directly stimulate parietal cells without affecting gastrin. So all alcohol & caffeine of any amount are out. I have cut out my morning coffee and sometime 1 glass of wine after work & feel a lot better.

Yeah I hear a lot about the unholy 3, gastrin, leptin and ghrelin, I guess all of them have to be in balance or you get ulcers, strictures and misery. And the outsiders think Bariatrics is an Easy Way out? Ha Hah, YOU just try living it.😔

oh it will, it will! I am basically optimistic in all things, I guess if you live long enough things do balance out. I never did think I would accomplish any land-speed records at healing. But it does seem moving slow but maybe right for me. We shall see how everything works out, won't we?😛🐸😛

Be so very glad they were not bleeding I think I posted pictures of mine somewhere on this site and let me tell you when you are throwing up blood form them and they make the walls of your stomach paper thin it is one of the most painful things I think I have every experienced. Just because they are not challenging the stomach wall now does not mean they wont in the future so keep a close eye on them.

And I now have my Repeat EGJ Scoping scheduled, October 26 at 3:10 pm. Had a choice of that one or 7:20 am, would have meant leaving my town at 5:30 or 6am to miss traffic bottlenecks in Columbus. Take my chances later in the day! Bad news : being NPO FROM MIDNIGHT ON!

Yeah me too, dietician Roy, actually my fan favorite of all the ones I met, was giving me a pep talk for Stage 3 diet if everything goes well, asked what i am hungry for? He kind of flinched when I told him teryaki fried tofu, I think he thought he would have to talk me down from a Steak Desire. Closest I would come to that: a 1/8 to 1/4 Wendy patty, and I don't think I'm quite ready, maybe Thanksgiving? He is hopeful I will make it to Stage 4 by my 3 month assessment. To me it looks like an impossibleble dream, but then I never thought my weight would peel off like it has, 55th+ pounds since the end of August, just want to feel good to enjoy. Think I might be ready to decrease one Big Girl Size, takes a lot of loss when you are still in the. 3-how much did you say hundreds, but 290 and never ever going back!👈😝👉🌈

Hi Frustr8, just reading your slightly older post and I have a question re: the omeprazole. My surgeon wants me on it and my GP has prescribed it in capsule form which I've been just taking like a regular capsule (swallowing the thing whole) am I doing that wrong? I couldn't figure out what you meant here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
