Hi Guys. Still planning for my sleeve. I know that 2-3 weeks is the ideal time to take off work for recovery and that it really just varies person to person how much time is needed. But how much time did you ACTUALLY take off. And how physical is your job? Teacher here, getting sleeved right before he new school year and I don’t wanna take the first couple weeks of the school year off. Thanks for replying.

I am a lawyer. I had surgery Friday, 7/13. Recovery has gone well and I feel great. I am going back to work on Monday, 7/23. So I took one week plus 1 day.

When I had my sleeve I took off 6 weeks. I felt like I needed it, recovery was harsh for some reason

when I had my revision to RNY, I took off for 3 weeks. Recovery was much easier.

I work in healthcare and up on my feet handling patients for 8+ hours a day and I did go back with an aide for some help at work until I was 6 weeks post op

My surgery is 7/30 and im returning to work 8/20, but I have desk job. I felt I needed as much time as I could possibly get to learn how to refeed while keeping pain, mental stress at bay.

I work from home, so I took no time off.

My neighbor and good friend is a middle school teacher. She was sleeved two months before me. She took a total of two weeks off. She was a little tired, bu otherwise did well.

4 weeks off for my sleeve. Was hoping for 2, but I had some complications with fluids and other things. My doc wouldn't clear me. I'm glad they didn't, because the extra time has been very helpful for recovery.

Taking 6 weeks because I am giving my mental health a rest too. I work in the legal field and once I go back it's back to the 100%. Was sleeved on 8/6 and finally cleared for soft foods today!

I had my sleeve done on 8/2. I took off through 8/10 and worked from home through 8/17. I’m going to try to go into the office on 8/20. I am in IT so no lifting or walking. I get tired when getting ready to go out and grocery shopping or walking for 30 minutes. My boss is great and said that if I can only make it half days for the next week it’s okay. My brain says go, go, go but my body says no, no, no. Good luck!

I had my sleeve July 10th. I took two full weeks off. I work from Home on the computer. Back to work for several weeks now and still feel the need to nap during the day.

Teacher here too, but I teach band so we actually started with kids on July 30, eight hours of practice a day. That was twelve days after my surgery. It was extremely tough but I did it. I found ways to take it easy...I sat down as I taught, stayed inside working with small groups of kids rather than out on the field in the hot sun...but it still wore me out and made me sore. Now, a month out from surgery, my energy and pain are fine now. I'm still not doing the physical work that I would otherwise be doing (not lifting or pushing heavy equipment, for instance) but everything else is back to normal.

For me, though pain was gone not long after discharge, it has been the incredible tiredness. At the beginning of my 3rd pist op week, I am starting to feel more normal.

I have a desk job and I took off two weeks. I'm now just over a week and a half in, and I'm ready to go back to work, simply because I'm bored. I still do have some soreness so I think, for me, two weeks is the right amount of time.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
