So angry at dr office staff

Recommended Posts

So I have tachycardia. Had it for years. A cardiologist told me to meditate. My dr.s staff called today and said they have to delay surgery due to my cardiology dr says I smoke. I happily quit 2 years ago. My dr's appt scheduler basically called me a liar and said I need a nicotine test. I asked her to look at the dates and she realized the report is 2 years old. So frustrated. She said she would email me paperwork for surgery on the 1st, but didn't

I feel like she is going to "tell" on me to dr. Uugg

Well its the 18th and I would of called someone or went to the office long ago. AND what is she going to tell on.... that you smoked 2 yrs ago.. confused
I agree, I have been contacting them daily. I am a cash patient. I feel that they are just pushing me thru. Just really nervous. My insurance has a bariatric exclusion. I know if I went through insurance every thing would be checked.

Since she's the one making the error and inconveniencing you....perhaps you should tell the doctor on her instead?

Not maliciously, of course, but doctors do appreciate polite feedback on how their staff is doing.

Do they not need a more current report from the cardiologist than 2 years ago? I saw one and also had a chemical stress echo less than 3 months before my surgery. Of course if you are paying cash perhaps it is not needed at all but if the doctor requires the nicotine test you are going to have to do it.

The scheduler being rude and unhelpful is bound to have a supervisor so call them tomorrow and let them know you have not received your paperwork...avoid being accusatory and speak calmly since that will help your cause more.

Good for you to quit 2 years ago....I quit almost 9 years ago and so glad I did. Good luck!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
