Frustr8, had RnY on August. No prediet required. One day ahead of surgery all liquid diet. I’m 65 years young. 8 days out of surgery and doing great. Transitioned to puréed Soup and yogurt yesterday. So far so good. Good Luck to you.

And I have a form of pre-op class on Friday , I meet with my anesthesiologist on Friday, one,of the things I must bring up is the fact,i am allergic to hibaclenz, find out if there is an,option or if I am going to be painted with a layer of Betadine from stem to stern.
Every other surgery I ever had , I met the anesthesia guy or gal just before I was put to sleep. Oh well, every doctor, every hospital has their own way of doing things, I either can argue,or go with the flow. Think I'll do the latter. Good luck tomorrow with your classes.

Thank you Frustr8! Good luck to you on Friday! On my paperwork it actually says that the anesthesiologist might want to meet before but I haven’t heard from them yet so we’ll see.... I hope there is something else that they can use for you!

it looks like we three are in Charlotte🌸, Philadelphia🌺 and I live in a city called Mount Vernon, 48 miles NE of Columbus Ohio🍄 where I will have my 😷surgery. Good Luck to us all and may we have smooth swift healings🍀. In fact I wish that for all the people on here!😛👍🌈

I’m projected to have surgery in September also... but I haven’t scheduled yet. My last nutritionist visit is this week and then I think I can schedule. Im a little weirded out because my surgeon does not require any type of Pre op liquid diet that I see is so common.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
