SEPTEMBER 2018 SURGERIES AND SUCCESS

Recommended Posts

Happy birthday Frustr8. Wishing you many happy returns of the day. Have a virtual slice of cake. (I have a small cake business from home and can attest that this particular one was lovely! It was a 6 layer rainbow sponge with Swiss meringue buttercream icing)

Thank You MME for making me feel special again. I felt very invalid yesterday, today will be BETTER. I try to always bounce back but I lost all my bounce the way events turned out. My late and lamented Ricky Nelson was correct
It's all right now***
For I learned my lesson well***
If you can't please everyone***
Then you better please yourself.

And a thought for today:
Wrinkles mean you laughed***
Gray hair means you cared***
And scars mean that you have lived.
Live these last days of 2018 in joy and happiness
And may 2019 bring You your Hearts-Desire!

How is everyone's monthly losses going? Mine lbs lost per month are steadily decreasing which is making me nervous about reaching my goal. I know.... I know..... we are not supposed to compare ourselves to others but we know we all do..lol

1st mth - 15.2 lbs

2nd mth - 10.2lbs

3rd mth - 8.0 lbs

4th mth - 4.2 lbs

I have had some stalls in there also, of course. Especially this month I stalled for over 2 weeks, hense only 4.2lbs for the month.

I just wonder if you guys were noticing that you were still losing at a pretty steady average each month or if it was slowing down. I still have another 33lbs to lose to meet my ultimate goal. I do realize as we get closer goal it may be more difficult but i just am not ready for to stop losing yet.

I want to take the best advantage of my "golden time" after surgery.

And Happy Happy New Shiny 2019. My TPN company took me from 14 on,10 off to 12-12. this should diminish my calorie intake down enough to avoid a stall without losing the nutritional benefits. Next endoscopy date open Is on the 25th, Dr Noria wants to see how 2 months of therapy has affected me, I am almost ready to start my 4th month of Carafate, let's see if it is as healing as we are hoping for. And I see Dr Needleman on the 15th for my scheduled appointment, this month I see my PCP, sleep medicine doctor, cardiologist, possibly lawyer, twice weekly blood draws, for a person who goes nowhere I seem to be Busy Busy! But I tell myself it's all good, at last weighing I had lost over a 100 pounds from High Weight but alas still another glob of weight to go, maybe 80 pounds. till I approach my goal. Oh I shall not give up, I am in it to win it and I still believe I can do it! And Plump Princess will become the Empress of All That She Surveys!👈👼👉❤🏆

sleep Medicine appointment okay, not deleting c Pap yet, cardiology went wonderful , I just 💖 my cardiologist, Dr Karve is a sweetie but very very smart. I hope she and her hubby someday. have a little one. She would be a very kind mommy. Next appointment is Tuesday with my surgeon, Dr Needleman, get to see him once a month as long as I do,have the PICC line. Really thought I would be more average than exceptional, but not how things worked out.

Same here things are slowing down. The holiday's didn't help but the 3 pounds I gained I lost them. So I'm glad about that.

Me, too, but other than that the Hair loss continues and weight does not change. My PA okayed bumping up the Biotin and L-lysine dosages. The other problem is that I live in the land of snow and ice and walking for exercise just is not happening here in the boondocks. I am solving that with my order today for a treadmill -- you know, those metal implements that get converted into a clothes rack after a short time? I surveyed treadmill owners I know who own them...Why did you stop using yours? A. boredom. B. it's in the basement/garage/spare room & I never go in the basement/garage/spare room. So this one goes in the living room, in front of the TV, within good earshot of the music collection. As I've heard before, this weight loss journey is 80% nutrition, 20% exercise, and 100% mental!

@Frustr8 I suspect you have the Guinness Record for number of doctors involved, number of hospital trips, and most dramatic moments in your journey. With the Golden Globe Awards coming up, there should be a category for you. You're a "Contenda!" You're gonna kick and scream your way to Victory. What a woman!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
