I had my last pre op appointment today and my phone call with anesthesia about protocol for not taking my medicine, making sure I was off my birth control and any NSIDS. Also, my office has patients drink 2 clear fast drinks, one the night before and one an hour before arriving at the hospital plus take Emend with the second one. Plus pain meds and Zolfran sent to the pharmacy. Gonna be an exciting week!

The false tag has been identified as a bug, bariatricpal will work on fixing it.

@ motion, how did things go? Trust things are starting to smooth out for you, hadn't seen anything from, you post surgery
And an update from Precious Pouch vs Frustr8, we have had a few minor skirmishes. Like "The King and I"
Getting to know you!
Getting to know all about you!
Precious was very peeved when upon the order of Joann my Aftercare Nurse/ Coordinator at OsU, I Had to take a Dose of MOM. You see i,had not had a BM since September 3rd and it was September12. I had to speak firmly with her. First i,called her a female dog, unkind but how I felt. Then I reminded her, as a pouch, I owned her, she merely, only THOUGHT she owned me. Now WE are going to,keep THAT lovely Cherry MOM down in Frustr8 where,it is going to do,good . And she was muttering " I want to,make you hurt, I want you to barf, this up" But the Day before Dr Needleman and Rachel, the dietician both assured me Precious Pouch could even handle Stage 3 diet. So quit, your Bellyaching!
You see,i was faithfully, taking a Dose or Miralax every day and the fecal total was Sluggish sleeping Colon 11 days- Frustr8 0, I hadn't worried, no distress, I was on Protein Shake, Protein Water, calorie free flavored liquids, my multi-vitamins, I figured the urge would return when it was ready. And I was shooting in my Lovenox, not offending my pouch greatly, getting her to accept 1/4 c,of of things gingerly, teensy-spoon-tips at a time. Wednesday I was about ready to mix up a bowl of mashed potatoes and feel sorry for myself. I'm confessing, these things it because they are prideful things, as I look back that wasn't me thinking as well as reacting See I had a quiet, painfree, start to this post- surgery career. Wasn't really taking my Tylenol, why, should,I,? I wasn't hurting thought,i was on top of things . Then Sunday I had when,i call, the"Purple Rain" incident. I was, lying down watching, baseball, and my belly. Silly-sounding,nut my beli, glikes fresh air. Noticed a purple mottling in my left subcostal area, not near any incisions. If we are counting,I,HAVE 6. Okay, everybody might have bruising, swelling,,even a little redness, these are surgical, wounds after all. This seemed different, and I watched it March across. my Tummy in close formation, rather like Napoleon and his troops. Weirdly, around each incision was a circle of white. What do I do? Call Dr Needleman ? Would he want his Sunday afternoon disturbed by a dingy broad with a Technicolor belly? Sound I drag myself out to the local BandAid Station, my community hospital , staffed by the Keystone Kops, sometimes I think they diagnose by Dartboard. Besides if I had much trust in them I wouldn't have gone 48 miles to Columbus for my RnY. So I took inventory
Swelling Yes slight but not much
Pain Negligible
Appearance Now that ones weird, but it stopped about 7/8 of the way across. Wasn't going any farther.
If it were really serious, like something twisted, I would be in violent pain, puking without ceasing like i did with panceatitis, a condition I would only wish on my worst enemy. I gently prodded my side, didn't feel any more than usual distenion. Figured Tomkitten could call the local Emergency Squad if I passed out.
So I spent an okay night and into Monday, looking like I had been impregnated by an alien and was Now carrying his child.
When Joann my Aftercare Nurse Coordinator for OSU called on Monday I brought up the "Purple Veil", she admitted this was a new one to her, told me she would talk this over with the resident on duty and get back with me on Tuesday morning. 15 minutes later she called back and said Dr Needleman would like to see me at 1 PM Tuesday, could imake it to Columbus then? Might be difficult, but one does not ignore a summons from the Great Oz.
When I saw him that day he agreed , said is was indeed odd, but he had a theory. With all the magic maneuvering of bariatric surgery a little skin blood vessel,go traumatized, it was just lying there until I got a sufficent level of Lovenox in my body and it either popped open or the microbial started oozing, the blood had no where,it to go except between my fat layer and skin. Okay I guess that makes some sense after all. Just watch for new waves across the belly otherwise I will be okay.
He is gratified how well I am healing and proceeds to start yanking off steri-strips with great fervor. What do you know? He didn't just trace a design on my skin with his scalpel, after all. At the base of each,is 1 or 2. little black sutures. And as he pulled off each the air hit them they started throbbing, yes the pain I should have had from the beginning, I laid still but the groin-attacking knee started twitching. If he had put in 12 stitches, he might gave regained the upper vocal range he lost at puberty.
And it really is a hard thing to control. it is not a superficial pain for,me, and the worst is Big Red, an incision with a mind of his own. I guess on Bypassers the right side big incision,is the one where. the big important business goes. Certainly seems to be wider and deeper. I know for sleevers it's the left, one where they pull your stomach remnant out.
And I have not been totally, painfree since, had to resort to Norco a couple times, me, who hadn't needed, any pain relief prior. To paraphrase Ricky Ricardo of I LOVE LUCY, Bradley, you got some 'splaing to do!
Oh he also upgraded me to Stage 3 diet, that I am grateful for, much more dietary variety, but the incision pain? I wish Calvin come take it away!
So Wednesday things were hurting, I was hurting, crying in the, midst,of fresh new threatening bills I can't pay, pie in the sky assurances that my insurance case was settled in my favor and we are waiting on the pay-off, a payoff the opposing party, as a self- insured enity feels no real urge to complete, the Demand for Settlement was activated late Spring, we have gone through summer, are going into Autumn, and still they sit on their coperate treasure chests and snicker. I have bills I can only pay minimum if at all, a landlord who either thinks Social Security pays phenomenally well( it doesnt) or I have my settlement and just want to share, utilities threatening shut-off, insurances threatening termination, if my life insurance does, I can't ever afford any more, my son will have nothing to bury me with. So I have shut-off, termination, eviction, I feel bayseous, in pain, too dizzy to walk it off, no wonder I was having a PLOM moment, thank you @ MrsGamgee for the term. Stands for Poor Little Old Me, and I was really feeling it.
So Joann talked me off the cliff, Or in my case, away, from the bowl of warm soothing slider carbs. We chatted and finally decided a portion of,my sorrow was being full of something that already, should have left. So today, when she calls I can report results, not relief because I was not feeling colonic distress. First BM was weird, not black, thought,it,might be, after all a little gastric bleeding? Nope kudos to Bradley J Needleman here, no trauma, merely dark brown and would not flush free. Multiple flushing and Tomkitten had to finally scrub it loose. Since then what Biddy as from New Zealand calls "Fart with follow- thru" not so formed but perhaps passable,in all facets.
Am I sorry I had it done? Heck no! Don't appreciate the bumpy ride but would not go back where I was, now down 54 pounds from my highest weight haven't broke the 300 pound barrier, maybe this week, but this will still be the making of a Brand New Frustr8 and I Celebrate that highly!
And my younger Buds who are whimpering with your hormones zigzagging and undesirable body happenings. Well good ole Frustr8 has one of her own, I have, on top of my grief. and woes, developed the Cold Sore from Hades on my upper Right lip. I look like someone tried to burn me with. a lit cigarette , I almost never get a cold sore!

Thank you! Sounds like you are doing really good too! I actually made a friend when I was in the hospital she was our surgeon’s case right after me and we had rooms side by side!

I was happy to have someone to chat with that understood exactly what was going on and felt the same way. I walked the halls like every hour or two! I’m still super sore right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
