Im 2 weeks post op tomorrow and having some issues with Water, propel, or any liquid. I can keep it down but it feels like it’s getting stuck on the way down or like I’ve got air trapped. I’m not using straws or anything like that and taking baby sips. It hurts in my throat and chest area. I have a appointment tomorrow at 1 pm but I really can’t go that long not drinking anything. Anyone else experience this? It’s happening with any drink.

It gets substantially better. Do you best to stay hydrated the first month or so. It gets way easier. I’m a little more than two months out and have zero issues drinking a substantial amount. Even straws have been no problem

It’s just strange because I’ve had no issues until the last 2 days or so.

My understanding is that when you are healing the sleeve can swell up and down, which can cause some issues when trying to eat or drink. To be sure maybe ask at your appointment. Also try warm or very cold liquids to see if one is better than the other.

I feel the exact same way. I hope we both get answers to our problem.

Yes I did for first couple of months while I healed. Hot Water (decaf tea) worked for me.

I was just having this discussion on another thread with a few people, I can only tolerate high quality Water, very expensive mostly foreign or alkaline. They suggested it is the "texture" or mineral content. Try a few different types of water, or alkaline your own.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
