How much did you loose on your 2 week pre op diet?

Recommended Posts

Good day

Today I began my 2 wk liquid diet. I have to take 3 shakes a day, (Proti Max) which I purchased at my doctor's office, and a light meal. In following my doctor's suggestions to the T, I chose to buy the frozen kind. (I.E. Lean Cuisine, Smart One, Healthy Choice)

Now with some simple math, that's about 100 calories per shake, (3 shakes x 100 calories = 300 calories) and the meals I purchased, none have over 200 calories. That would give me a 500 calorie input per day for 14 days. I'm hoping for some weight loss during these two weeks before surgery. How much weight did you all loose? What was the most difficult part of this two week diet?

I guess I can chime in, even though mine is 3 week liquid diet and its on going at the moment. Seems that my doctors protocol is very strict compared to what I've been reading on the forums. I started on 7/9/18, my surgery date is 7/30/18, and so far I am down 8 pounds. Im on Bariatric Advantage shakes, 4x a day, BA calcium chews (3), and BA chewable vitamins.

I started my preop diet on Monday, July 9th. My surgery is Monday, July 23rd. My diet consists of a Protein Shake for Breakfast no more than 160 calories and the same for lunch. Then i have a lean cuisine for dinner. I'll tell you what...a frozen meal never tasted so good. I think i even licked the container! I am down 8 lbs so far. During my rough times I have had a side salad with very little dressing or some string cheese. The most difficult part for me is that i have been really constipated (sorry if that is TMI) My doctor told me to start on a stool softener and that has helped. Good luck on your preop diet. Stay busy if you get hungry and it helps to take your mind off of it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
