I had popcorn at the movies the other night with my wife. It went down easily. She actually asked how is it I could have so much popcorn but then eat a few bites of chicken and i'm full. I told her its probably the popcorn consistency vs the meat. I now know I need to keep that popcorn monster in check.

We have difficulty with weight loss because we worry more about what we may have to give up or eat less of than what we potentially gain.

So I have been suffering with heart burn for a couple of weeks (due to low class water) trying to subconsciously prove to a new suitor that im not a Water snob.

I am.

I have been boiling filtering infusing ...

I just want better water 😂

Me too. Now that I spend less on food I spend a little more on my water as well.

I have been so upset with my slow weight loss and feeling almost normal that at almost 7 weeks I said screw it and went to McDonald’s. I got a filet o fish and small fries and ate about half of each. I don’t regret doing it because I really needed to know if I would feel any kind of restriction. I do think that only being able to eat half and being very full is a good sign. That being said I really don’t think I will eat at McDonald’s again because it made me feel like crap. That’s all good news

Good for you! I did the same thing a few months ago, but I went to Wendy's, that used to be my go stress eating food and it's across the street from my job...I felt crappy too and it was disgusting and I'm glad LOL

Matt, wait you had your surgery a year ago so technically you're really not cheating anymore if you drink alcohol right? Had my surgery only a month ago, and 11 freakin' months is way too long to wait without Vodka :-)

On my first week post op, I was eating steak. I was chewing them really really good, then I'd spit it out.

I only lasted a week doing the liquid diet after the surgery. I started eating soft fish and mashed potatoes on my 2nd week. Bad, Bad, Bad Gastric Bypass Patient!

So far cheat wise I’ve had fruit bottom yogurt x2 servings (3rd day out of hospital); 3 bites of a hot dog (bun, ketchup and mustard... go big or go home right?) (2nd week into liquid diet) a few bites of chicken and prosciutto (supposed purée diet) and started the purée diet a bit early. So far my highest cheat day was the most carbs I’ve had with an intake of maybe 40% carbs which is too high and 1000 calories or so. It was like shredded wheat Cereal, crackers with hummus yogurt and avocado, yogurt and cream cheese mixed together with some tsaziki herbs, and 2/3 of a lentil Soup with 2/3 of a serving of Protein (I couldn’t finish the soup) and a bit of apple juice mixed in with my Water. This was just on Sunday. Oh that was also when we went to a show so I brought “meals & snacks” with me (cottage cheese, apple sauce, and sf jello) because I couldn’t have anything there.
Everything smelled and looked so good. There was ice cream, popcorn, fudge, maple candy treats... the worst so far was going to see friends and her child was snacking on dill popcorn. I really wanted some or some of the Cookies her husband got into but I don’t like the consequences especially when visiting friends! I can handle it if it’s at home but not at a friends house!

Oh and the absolute worst was the dreams I was having that I was cheating in my sleep when I was on the pre-op shakes and broth & liquids. I dreamt about Portuguese custard tarts, raw potatoes eating them (I could taste them in my sleep) and then they turned into fries, icing, and I forget what else I think maybe Soup? But real chunky creamy soup!

One last thing I’d recommend if you want to curb your cheating? Try watching the “try guys” on YouTube finishing off everything from the Olive Garden and then his food coma reaction at the end.

It gave me a new perspective on what I’m missing out on. He tried a little bit of all their 64 items on their list.

Now being Canadian, I have only been to Olive Garden once. But I can see why the food is so addictive.

The next thing I hope they try is the Cheesecake Factory.

The reason I say this was during my liquid diet pre and post phase, I was watching a lot of cooking shows.

I figure if I can “tolerate” seeing the food, watching the commercials, and conditioning myself not to give into temptation that way by enjoying the “art” of the quality of the food, I will learn to appreciate a good meal. Quality over quantity.

Seeing someone scarf down food has become a real turn off to me going to some place to try a meal if it’s going to have those type of effects, I’d rather pass.

Here’s an example of the “Try guys” eating the menu at a more quality place vs quantity. It would be the porterhouse for me and my husband with leftovers!! 😂🤣😂

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
