I gather up all the loose skin on my belly into a sort of ball, squish it together with two hands, and say terrible things to it. Stupid loose skin.

My poison is donuts!! There is a little place across the street from the salon that I go to that makes the best chocolate iced donuts. I don't do it often, but once in a while it is a splurge! My other weakness is chips. I try to not have them more than once every 2-3 weeks.

I got Chipotle last night - turns out their chips are a MAJOR slider for me, didn't feel the restriction at all with them. At least I realized that fairly quickly and gave the bag of chips to my husband...after I'd eaten about half of them :/

I got a burrito bowl with no rice and double chicken, double black Beans, and double fajita veggies. I barely made a dent in it for my lunch. Went back and made a tiny dent in it for dinner, and 80% of it is still in the fridge. I'm torn between "well, this isn't TOO bad" because I made sure that there was a lot of Protein and lower carbs and on the other hand thinking about the amount of fat from the cooking oils and from the cheese and sour cream and guac makes me feel completely ashamed that I had any of it.

I'm six weeks post-op tomorrow, so this was my first time 'eating out' and my first time eating anything remotely like this. I'm hoping I can avoid eating similarly for at least another six weeks but...it was REALLY good!

You could have had so many more worse things than what you had. Look at it this way, you have to have some fat and dairy in your diet. Avocado is awesome for you. You literally probably ate 10 bites at the most. You would have loaded it up and ate the whole thing pre-op right? This is all about a life change. You're not going to be able to avoid going out to at all the time. This was a good test for you and I think you passed with flying colors. My first trip to Chipotle included rice in my bowl so already you are doing better than I did! LOL!!!!!

19 days out from sleeve and I’ve already had a glass of wine twice. But then, I did choose sleeve since it was more wine friendly than other surgeries.

@AEdoesRnY I agree with @Tracy1978

You went to Chipotle, you made healthy choices, that is a complete success IMO. Eating out is part of life, some times for pleasure and sometimes out of necessity. Being able to navigate that and make healthy choices is an important skill, and you did that. No need to feel guilty at all.

Perfection is an un-achievable goal. If that is what you are aiming for you are doomed to feel like a failure. Instead of the success that you are. You've lost 36 lbs is 6 weeks, which is AMAZING!

Thank you and @tracy1978 for your kind words!! I’m still hoping I can avoid doing the chips again, but I appreciate you helping me get out of my self-shaming, always critical, beat myself up reflexes.

The 36lbs includes pre-op so it’s in 8 weeks which I still feel great about, especially because my multi-week stall is showing signs of being done (KNOCK ON WOOD!)

This is a good goal to have vs. perfection. Now you know that chips are a danger zone and you should avoid. On a rare occasion you might give into temptation, but you learned you have the strength and self awareness to stop yourself before you've eaten the whole bag :)

Ha! Hysterical!

Have you considered drawing a face on it, squishing it up and making it say terrible things to other people??!

I ate Taco Bell today and I’m not beating myself up about it. Because I’m almost a year post op and gosh darn it if I want a quesadilla, I’m gonna eat one 😈

Went to the BIg E fair yesterday, made sure I got my Protein and Water in for the day. But totally had some poutine, and a cup of clam chowder...and a few sips of the fiancés margarita. No regrets. I could have done way worse than a few cheese curds gravy and a few fries.

Ate a chocolate cupcake yesterday 😖

Now that I’m at goal I think I’m in trouble BC I’m loosening up on what can be eaten. I’d like to say I can just enjoy what I want in smaller amounts but I think that’s the road to hell lol

I’m shocking. I am not a really ‘heavy’ overweight person (87kg was my starting weight- 191lbs) and am now 172lbs or 78kgs. I half-assed my pre-op diet but gave into cravings... I don’t have a dietician and I’m a wine drinking, snack eating pizza and Peanut Butter fan. Only difference is now I eat 3/4 of a slice instead of an entire pizza!! I need to be more disciplined though or I’ll end up back where I started. I do eat loads of yoghurt... the purée stage is weird because I feel totally fine. To the point where I forget I’ve even had the sleeve done!! I pretty much eat whatever I want but just chew it thoroughly first. That’s still purée, right??!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
