I went today for my first fill. I have the 14 cc band and my doc put 3 cc's in it. I lost 11 pounds since October 8th, for a grand total of 33 pounds since August 16th (that was the last time I was weighed). Even in bandster hell I managed to loose weight!!

I'm definitely feeling the restriction. I'm sipping on a can of slim fast and boy does it feel tight in there. I'm having trouble burping again, which happened after the surgery.

I was told when I start eating again (48 hours of liquids and then 48 hours of mushy/pureeds), that I should take a bite, chew it 15 times, swallow, put my fork or spoon down, count to 50 and then do it again.

I honestly didn't even feel it when she put the needle in! She had me do somewhat of a crunch, I guess to make the port stick up.

I was just wondering if anyone got their 1st fill yet. Could you feel her filling it.

I think I'm stupid b/c I never even thought to ask what kind of band I have. I asked or so I thought every question I could imagine.

I'm hoping to get mine on the 13th.

I just moved to real food last Thursday and I get full on less food, I don't feel the restriction I think I should have. I'm eating about a cup or so of food.

I didn't feel a thing, just a tiny bit of pressure when she pushed down to find the port. I didn't even feel the needle go in.

I was eating a lot before I got filled. I will let you know how that changes when I get back on to food.

Lizziee, didn't the dr give you some paperwork after your surgery? Mine did and it has all the info needed if I go to a different doctor. e.g.Type of band, how much it holds, emergency number, etc. Or if you really want to know, call the dr and ask. Good luck. :)Laura

Hatmama - thanks for your post. I too have been feeling like an idiot not knowing what size band I had. And yes my doctor did give me a card for my wallet with medical information and after reading your post I read it and found out that I had a 14cc band. I had briefly looked at it before, but not that closely. I was banded on 10/11 and am waiting for my first fill. That won't be until after Thanksgiving. Thanks for the info.

HI....JUST GOT MY FIRST FILL, LAST WEEK...HUM ...ONLY 26 DAYS AFTER MY SURGERY...IT WAS TRUELY THE WEIRDEST SENSATION I THINK I HAVE EVER FELT. iT DOES NOT HURT AT ALL. MY DOC INSERTED THE NEEDLE, AND FILLED ME UP, THEN HE HAD ME SIT UP ON THE TABLE, AND AS I SIPPED Water, AND FELT IT PASS THE BAND, HE WITHDREW Fluid. JUST TINY AMOUNTS AT A TIME. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL WE BOTH FELT THAT I HAD ENOUGH RESTRICTION. WHEN HE WAS DONE HE PULLED THE NEEDLE OUT, IT WAS A REALLY WEIRD FEELING, BUT NOT AT ALL PAINFULL. HOPE THIS HELPS! GOOD LUCK!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
