So I'm at work and was at lunch, 3 wks post op and was having small bites of chicken breast that my team ok'd. I suppose it was too dry because after about 4 bites I felt as though it was caught in my chest and I barely made it to the bathroom before I threw it back up and man did it hurt!!

I don't want to waste extra calories or carbs on dressings if I don't have to right now but I wanna eat the chicken for the Protein. Any suggestions?

I don't wanna have to go through that again!!

I was eating chicken at three weeks but, as Creek said, very moist. I added all sorts - mushy tomatoes was a favourite for me. Minimum extra calories, and a nice part of my ongoing eating plan... Dry food didn’t really sit so well for me until 2-3 months.

I will try that. I like them and few calories is always good:) Thanks so much!

Backtrack a bit and finely chop your foods , very small, them chew very well.

Make everything super moist (with broth or dressings) , if cheese hurts also go back to yogurt, cottage cheese etc.

Don't rush especially if it hurts and as always, let your team know of any changes

I never thought about soaking chicken in both. That’s a great solution. Thanks!

I cooked mine with broth in the Instapot, basically poached. Moist, and you can add flavor as well, add salsa, or harrissa or thai chili paste, anything really!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
