Have you found an amazing replacement for something that is just as good as if not better than the original? Price wise, fit wise, nutritionally, etc. (Not just food related) or something that claims to be comparable but does not live up to the hype? Let us know...

Equate high Protein Shakes, Wal-Mart's house brand.
They claim to be equivalent to Premier Protein, same Protein level, same amount of calories.
They have a nasty evaporated processed milk taste, and when you finish there is a bitter after-taste. They do market $2 less, spend the extra money and get something you can stand.🍶

Riced cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes = yuck! It's just not that great. You can kid yourself for a while...but the illusion doesn't last. LOL

HOWEVER!

If you mix half steamed riced cauliflower with half real boiled potatoes, and mash them with lowfat buttermilk instead of butter and milk....they are AMAZING. They taste genuinely good and have half the calories and a fraction of the fat.

This is a favorite recipe of mine and even normal food eaters....love them. No special sides needed.

Protien Pasta Is AWESOME!

https://www.barilla.com/en-us/product-results/pasta/range/proteinplus?sort=alpha

Made with flax, barley, oats, chickpeas, lentils and eggwhites.

The texture is just a little different and the taste is slightly different....but both are pleasant and you'll feel like you're eating the pasta you used to eat. Awesome for pasta salads with veggies, olives, feta. Awesome for veggie based pasta sauces and lean meats and cheeses.

Shockingly good...and a great source of plant based Protein.

I agree they do not equate to premier at all, I tried the caramel in coffee, horrible experience... Waste of expensive coffee

Thank you for this review. I was suspicious about their shakes. I found a great price for Premier Protein shakes at Sam's Club in packs of 12 - $16.66. That's $1.39 each, which is even cheaper than the 18 pack at costco ($28.99, $1.61 each). Sam's has a sale, ending today for 12-packs for 12.66 ($1.06 each), limit three per membership. I stocked up earlier in the week.

Riced cauliflower - Bleh! no way to cover up the cauliflower taste

Yasso Greek Yogurt bars - crazy delicious, doesn't taste like diet ice cream

Halo Top - I know people love this, but I can't deal with the weird taste and texture

Barrilla Protein Pasta - I can't tell the difference at all, nice way to get extra protein

Shirataki Noodles - I can't get past the smell when you open the pack, seriously gag inducing

Birdseye Veggie Made Pasta - People love this as well, but it tastes too off to me.

Sugar Free Popsicles - Ok, also loved, but the artificial taste is too much for me

PB2 Peanut Butter powder - Good to add to chocolate shakes to break the monotony

Soy Protein Isolate - Can't do whey so I thought this would be a good shake add in alternate, way too gritty

Skinnygirl Dressing - So artificial tasting, threw them out

Kay's Naturals Protein chips, Crispy Parmesan - these are actually craveable

Protein Soup from Bariatric Pal - Most I tried have been tasty and a good non sweet way to get protein in

I bought the chilly cow froyo bars and they are good for 100 cals but my kids keep stealing them lol , they didn't love the yasso variety. I gave up on halo top, I can't do a pint of anything its a waste...

Flapjacked Mighty Muffins.... fat people cake. So good. I'll admit I put some splenda in the batter to make them sweeter.

220 calories, 20 grams of Protein. This is like a donut for Breakfast with your coffee guilt free.

Dry meat...homemade.

Take your favorite lean beef like round steaks....cut it up in thin strips. Marinate overnight in your favorite flavors. I love garlic, hot peppers, Worcestershire, and Montreal Steak Seasonings.

Dangle these guys from one of your oven racks...and put a cookie sheet covered in tinfoil under them to catch the drips (easy clean up). Set the oven to 200 degrees and leave them in there 4-6 hours until they're dry and leathery.

So much better than Jerky. If you taste this...you will never buy jerky again...and your family will devour this as fast as you can make it.

Store in airtight container.

Protien pancakes! (quick oats, egg whites, cottage cheese, baking powder, almond milk....in food processor...makes a great batter)

I like to eat these guys with a ton of strawberries crushed with splenda and sugar free whipped cream on top.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
