gilta 0 Posted November 7, 2007 Hi - I am considering lap-band surgery, but I am not sure about the cost. I have BC/BS PPO in NY. I don't know where to begin. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on getting started? Thanks! Gilta
Mrs Husker 3 Posted November 7, 2007 You might want to call your insurance company and see what they require. Some want anywhere from 6 months to two years medically managed weight loss. Others want a BMI over 40 with at least one or two co-morbid disabilities. Some don't cover it at all. Check with them then find a doctor that you trust and see how they want to proceed. Best of luck,

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on getting started? Thanks! Gilta Hi I have BC/BS in PA that is PPO as well and it is (according to others) one of the easiest insurances to deal with. Mine is covered, completely as well as reconstructive surgery after banding.
gilta 0 Posted September 25, 2008 I had to laugh as I wrote that topic almost a year ago! I have since been banded and am down 43lbs so far. My insurance was a breeze luckily! Gilta
