I had my surgery on Monday, June 25th at 11:20 A.M. and by choice stayed 3 nights. I loved the pampering and amazing nurses and knew my kids were in great shape with grandparents. Once I was at home, I knew it would be all me taking care of me so I loved the extra stay at the hospital to hydrate with Fluid bags and heal.

I have two littles myself. My mom took them Monday night into Tuesday. My surgery was Tuesday morning. My husband got them back on Tuesday night. I stayed in the hospital alone all day Wednesday (all I was really doing was sleeping and walking anyway) and they picked me up Thursday morning

I think it depends on where you are. Here in Connecticut you are required to stay at least 2 days for bypass. I had my bypass after 4:30pm 6/28/18 and was discharged from the hospital 10:30am 6/30/18

I’m 34 and in upstate Ny. I had my surgery at 11:00am Tuesday and was released by 12:00pm Thursday. Honestly, I did not think I was quite ready to go home but man did how I felt rapidly improve once I was!

Had my RNY on Monday at 1 pm and went home Tuesday at 10 am. I drank 80 oz of Water overnight and did 30 laps around the entire floor. I was motivated to go home!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
