I am 90 mi west of Chicago - but as a square dancer I do some 'circling around' - to dances, conventions, mtgs about conventions, lol etc

Illinois Convention used to be in Peoria until the convention center became too pricey - nxt 2 years in Decatur then Itasca. Pic is National Convention in Kansas City MO last month. Illinois is 26th-29th this month.

I've grown close to a few of you guys over this journey. You are a part of my everyday life and I find myself saying... oh well, @Orchids&Dragons said this.... and people look at me funny.

Anyway, crazy enough I find myself day dreaming of some sort of get together. Like a giant family reunion or a retreat of sorts. LOL.

I know this will never happen, but if anyone's ever in IL.... let me know! I'd love to meet you!

Well, I'm in if it ever comes to fruition, that is after I have my surgery, of course... (-:

oh, and the catering bill will very very small - just saying...

We need to meet in the middle in Springfield at some point. I'm there several times a month, but I don't make it up your way very often.

Might want to be a little more specific with "Springfield"... seems there are 33 Towns/Cities in 25 states named "Springfield" LOL.

Matt Z my personal guess would be Illinois. That said, in My State- OHIO- we have both a Springfield and a New Springfield and they're nowhere close to each other!😛

Not necessary to be more specific, because I was talking to Ash, who knows exactly which Springfield I mean (Frust is correct) because Ash and i have previously discussed where we are in relation to each other (I went to college where she lives now).

I think he was trying to be funny... and also, do you really trust a man who lives in a state that is neither a road nor an island?!?

History matters (it's actually got a really rich history, how old it is, the fact that we were the first to Celebrate the 4th of July and have the oldest, continually running 4th of July parade in the country, we were the first to break away from England.... etc etc etc. And we've got plenty of Islands... and it's Rhode, not Road due to explorers finding it similar to the Rhodes, in Greece, which is an island.)

I was joking... :P

I have not had the chance to visit Rhode Island yet. I did live in upstate New York for about 10 months in 1986 & 1987 when I was in the Navy. I loved to ride my motorcycle to visit my friend in Brandon, VT. That winter was very snowy - I lived in Ballston Spa, NY.

I'm not mad or anything... I just posted the information as it is... because it's interesting. Living here you learn to ignore the "jokes" or misconceptions... because it just happens all the time. You'd think at this point people would know that Rhode Island is a state and not part of New York... but yet, you have no idea how often I'm speaking to folks, older folks that should know better ask me, "So how's the weather in New York?" or "How far are you from Times Square?" When I answer that one with, 3-4 hours depending on traffic, they get confused... "isn't Rhode Island near Long Island"... no dumba$$ it's it's own state LOL

Rhode Island has an impressive history, that hardly anyone knows about... that's my only reason for posting what I did.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
